Observer website:

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported today that Bill Goldberg agreed to a deal this week to appear in more shows, which explains the finish of tonight's match with Brock Lesnar.

The story noted that Goldberg will be at the Royal Rumble at the Alamodome. The original deal was for only this one match, but Goldberg got over so well, as expected, that both sides made the decision to keep him going.

It would be expected that Goldberg and Brock Lesnar would meet at the Rumble, although that has not been confirmed at this point.

The one advantage of scripted "sports entertainment" is that you know they can provide more of a show and come up with something that isnt gonna feel like a let down. So no, thats stupid.

agreed. if UFC had the option to book ronda like brock and have her win all of her matches for 3 years straight believe me they would have. and it when it finally came time for her to lose i can bet you it wouldn't be in under a minute.

again i could take the leap of faith and believe that goldberg could win, but i refuse to believe that brock lesnar could have been beaten by him under a minute.

It's gonna be a sad day when smarks realize that no one cares about their feelings or concerns. it's all about casual fans and little kids that actually buy merchandise.

Smarks don't buy shyt, they stream matches online and bytch about results in forums and youtube.

:bryan: vince don't care about yall

Because thats the entire point of wrestling. Its 2016, everyone knows its for show. Huge buildup and a 30 second squash in legit combat sports is not a good thing. The one advantage of scripted "sports entertainment" is that you know they can provide more of a show and come up with something that isnt gonna feel like a let down. So no, thats stupid.

On top of that, theres nothing legit about Goldberg beating Lesnar in a fight, let alone destroying him with zero offense. Again, just dumb. If they were gonna do that as a "shock" they shouldve done it with some young talent with actual fight experience. That accomplishes something beyond the initial "WTF" moment. That they could try to sell as some sort of off the cuff "shoot" moment. Not a 50 year old with no fight experience and no wrestling experience in over a decade. Once the shock wears off here (it already has) reality sets in and it becomes apparent that this wasnt a good look for anyone in the company.

by your logic andre the giant and fukking kurgan shoulda been squashing everything moving. Its wrestling, let people enjoy the show. I seen IG models posting about this shyt marking out. People want wrestling to be mainstream, these kickpad, flippy nikkas aint gonna bring that appeal...

Best option was Roman, and muthafukkas hate him.

i need some kind of match though. give me 5 minutes. give me a quick back and forth. let brock get some slams in. i could believe that goldberg could hit the spear out of nowhere and then go for the kill.

but he destroyed him. brock shouldn't get destroyed.

I get your point, the match should of got a bit more time and Brock shouldnt get destroyed so easily, when he had to do the job. But Brock doesn't give a shyt, easiest PPV hes ever had to do.

Quick squashes in combat sports is annoying (take it from someone who has fight parties and stays up till 4:30-5am in the morning to watch majority of fights), as fans we wants to see classic bouts, but shyt happens, motherfukkers can lose quick. With the Orton match at SSlam and when Taker beat Lesnar theyve added a bit more legit fight aspect w/ Brock's finishes, and with this finish, even in the scripted world of Pro Wrestling, anyone can get caught cold and lose quickly.

Book shyt for moments instead of logic, brehs

I hear you but honestly that was logical even in wrestling speak. Brock was on his ass laughing at Bill as he was getting up from being shoved down.

Bill pounced on him and made him pay for taking his eye off the ball

That's what damn near anyone would and SHOULD do facing Brock if given a chance. Get him first.

They can't play this card again though.

And I could see that if Goldberg was the only guy Brock doesn't take seriously, but Brock doesn't take anybody seriously. I guess they'll run with the "Brock Lesnar has finally met his match" rhetoric but the only guy that can match him is 50 year old gassed Goldberg? That makes the entire roster look like shyt by default.

So like I said, the washed up 50 year old who isnt a part of your company going forward, who isnt even a wrestler anymore, looks like a God...at the expense of your entire roster and your company itself.

If that sounds like smart decision-making to you (in other words, if you're a moron), then Im sure you love the booking last night.

This especially makes all the marks who used to say that Brock couldnt put any young guys over because "it wouldnt be believeable" look extra stupid. None of the young, athletically gifted studs are believeable going against Brock but an old man that hasnt set foot in a ring for 12 years squashes him like nothing? You're trying to argue this somehow brought a false and unneeded sense of "realism" to the product, but its exactly the opposite.

Wrestling never felt more fake or more stupid than in that moment last night.
