Barring fringe groups it is very much true. I suppose it's important to point out that it's a range of movements so naturally you'll have some conflicting views but feminists are overwhelmingly in support of gay rights
And this still has nothing to do with intersecting gay men into feminism. Feminists never needed gay men and gay men have never needed feminists.
It has nothing to do with who needs who. Feminism by definition strives for equality of
all women. This includes literally half of the LGBT movement. Again, feminism aims to break down ALL gender roles. Being a woman attracted to women goes against our heteronormative outlook hence forcing women into a 'gender role'. Or so the argument goes. Therefore, being against gay rights is inherently anti-feminist. Yes, sure there are homo/transphobic feminsts just like there are anti-abortion feminsts but again, it's a range of movement with slightly different ideologies but the overwhelming pull of feminism is pro-gay/trans rights. Logically, you cannot be pro-lesbian and anti male homosexuals because it undermines the belief that gender is a social construct.
Who said that this had to make sense? I'm explaining you about what the reality is and here you are trying to make sense. Do you really think that white feminists are holding hands and smelling flowers with any and everybody who is subjugated by white manhood? It's almost like saying that gay men cannot be transphobic.
Of course it has to make sense. And no, I think there are plenty of feminists, white or otherwise with personal agendas. Not so much a calculated super villain agenda but an agenda nonetheless.
I know that it's hard for some of you to wrap your heads around the idea that life doesn't go by dichotomies, but in this instance, try.
And how have trans rights been working out for transpeople?
You can call any women's movement a "feminist cause". Is it successful? What kind of barriers has it broken? With the exception of LGBTQ movements, every successful movement has had a cisgendered man or woman at the forefront. Outside of that, it'll definitely be harder for you. Regarding feminism, this is why straight white ladies have comfortably positioned themselves in front the breadline. Every woman of color, also known as "the other women", get crumbs.
This is ironic because even if you don't believe that gay rights and feminism are not interlinked the reality is that virtually
every mainstream feminist outlet, spokesperson, channel and supporter is a partisan of gay rights. Not only that, it's always feminists caping for the most degenerate of individuals and causes.
Also yes, it is a feminist cause if it's centred around one of the core principles of feminism. It might not be successful right now, but no movement has had overnight success. Ask me again in 10 or 15 years.
