You guys are playing the game the republicans want you to play, the one where only votes in play matter.

The democracy isn't working if people aren't voting, we in HL know that.

What have the respectability Dems done that makes them electable other than be a lesser evil?

@LurkMoar you are INCORRECT!

Your version of respectability politics has only one win in all of history and that was nationalizing the Republican created Massachusett's Romneycare

We don't need to make compromises with a group of voters that make up a rapidly aging 25% of the population.

The establishment Dems have completely failed by any standard they may have set forth for themselves, and the younger liberal voters who are dealing with the fallout of this are not going to be mobilized by more of the same.

The Dems will win by increasing turn out by inspiring people and making them hopeful for change.

Nobody wants to vote for defeatist appeasers like Neville Pelosi

Increase the turn out where? There are specific states that carried the house victory in 2018 and specific moderate areas. There are specific states that will decide the 2020 election, trump is already positioning himself to run against the most left wing candidates in the party and drowning out the moderates . Its a smart move, trump can win an election that way by painting the whole party as crazy.

People strongly dislike trump, that does not mean they are not all AOC and bernie bros dont make that mistake.

What does it matter if we lose? There have only been 2 full term democratic presidencies since fukking Reagan. Theres a simple formula to beat trump, stop trying to fukk it up by running leftist purity test. :what:

yeah but bills like the above are a way of signaling what each party values. the democrats in congress obviously aren't interested in signaling that they care about impeachment.
:mjlol: nikka you couldn't name 10 of the 200 bills the House has passed without google

@LurkMoar I'm not asking for a purity test of loyalty to Marxist ideology

I'm asking for a test of "You promised impeachment"

I'm asking for a test of "There's a human rights crisis at the border and Dems are switching sides"

Seems like a missed opportunity

This is why I feel it is odd for the current Dem leadership to court moderates instead of their less active voters.

Few voters actually swing their votes from one party to the other. Political science research has repeatedly shown that voters who identify as independents may not consider themselves partisan, but they almost invariably do vote in party-line fashion. According to the Pew Research Center, only 6 percent of voters are true independents who don’t lean toward one party or the other. Gallup found that 88 percent of Americans identify with or lean toward one of the two major parties.

“I don’t think there are a lot of moderate voters who are going to flip back and forth,” says Julian Zelizer, Kruse’s Princeton colleague and his coauthor of Fault Lines: A History of the United States Since 1974. “It’s a small sliver of the vote.”

Moderate Voters Are 'Politically Homeless.' Does Either Party Want Them?

So one is a symbolic gesture and the second is giving into republican demands on the border? Thats the only way you get anything passed by the republican senate.

It's funny Progressives shyt on Beto but he's the reason why 3 congressional seats were flipped in Texas.

I'm a Beto voter, part of the reason he earned my vote is because he was/is adamantly in favor of impeaching Trump. He ran on this and still helped flip three seats.
He may not be the worlds most progressive candidate and he may be running an awful presidential campaign but I don't view him as part of the problem.
I don't think he's the best example of why people are upset at moderate Dems.
