Could be worse if you live in Canada. Mass Immigration has destroyed their job market.

No one is trying to onboard juniors. That shyt is over, even internships don't guarantee anything. It's sad out here :wow:

Unless you're coding neural networks for fun, entry level programmers are in for a shock.

System design and prompt engineers are the way. If you still have a job, you better be a SME as quick as possible.

Or get into quantum programming.

People need to be taught to examine the job market before selecting a degree/major.

You can't just go to college, do whatever you want and expect everything to work out.

I was planning on where i was going to go for an internship on my first day of college. Didn't wait until after i graduated to try and figure that out

Better learn to code some shyt that disrupts the algorithm and keeps your data out of the hands of these bill data collectors, and get your money from sellin' the app or software. I was going to take some CS courses and get a lil' certificate in data science 'cause that's where we headed.

A degree won't stop the need to hustle.
That’s really it. People think that they’re supposed to take some classes as a teenager that are going to set them up financially for life, and it just doesn’t work like that. You have to keep grinding, learning new skills, building yourself up. And unless you got a large sum of money to invest, or you are able to build that sum and invest it, you’re always gonna have to keep hustling.

It’s more than just that.

You not only have to plan out your degree/career path, but you also need to accept that things change, industries change, technology moves quickly, and you have to always be ready to pivot.

You gotta be flexible. So many people get upset about having “wasted” their time working on something that didn’t pay off for them at 22 or 25 or 30 or whatever, when they’d be better off spending that time working on developing some other sill instead of complaining and sulking.

Just admit that social and financial mobility is a thing of the past. Moving goal posts for success just pisses off people and yes, a lot of people are fed up with "skill" just to live anything above poverty

Wait until CS majors realize there’s a lot of desk jobs and fields between FAANG and Chipotle.

A CS degree doesn’t mean you’re limited to software roles.
:pachaha:

It’s still a STEM degree that displays a level of logical thinking above the average crowd.

That’s the big downside here: the more they can’t land a tech job, the more competition for other office jobs goes up because they’ll funnel.

When that mentality spreads on those subreddits rather than the doom and gloom over tech roles :wow:
When I see these articles I always wonder what kind of positions they are applying for and what their credentials are. Are they only shooting for the top of the top companies and positions and leaving it at that.

I have people I know that got a basic ass business management degree, would apply for high end positions while having no relevant experience and a so-so GPA and then complaining that their college degree was worthless. I stay telling them you still have to work your way up after the degree.
