That's true but they also increased the build quality with those prices...I mean that's what the community asked for. We wanted higher quality material builds like the Samsung devices and iPhones - which justifies the price hike.

To a certain extent. They had some high and low years. I've bought every Nexus (except the One and the 6p) right after they're released and it wasn't always a supreme upgrade year over year.

You're right in saying that the apparent premium quality is worth the price. Doesn't look like a bad device at all. Just hope it pays off for them.

I'm incredibly happy with my 6P when full partition encryption is disabled, I wouldn't even be mad at staying on it for another year - best Nexus device in the series IMO. But I pulled the trigger on the Pixel XL because I'm a gadget junky by nature.

It was ironic that after ALL the years I spent saying I was GSDG for life, sticking with the Nexus series and shytting on the iPhone that a Nexus (6) was the device that made me want to switch. What makes it worse is that when I finally did switch, I see they dropped that beast known as the Nexus 6p a few weeks later. I was hella salty for a few days :pachaha:.

If the price of entry wasn't so high, I'd definitely cop a XL to play around with. I just can't justify it though. I'm always getting the itch to buy something new though.

Yeah, I'm just gonna stick to my Nexus 6. And probably buy the 6p on sale for the low.

The only problem I have with Google is the price. Google made the wrong decision on making a phone with the same price as the iPhone, and don't even get me started on the features. Like some of yall already said, there's really no need to buy this phone, and they could of been making this move with the Nexus brand.

I swear "Pixel" sounds so immature too, just like with menu icons, but I see why they choose the name for consumer buying strategies.

I'm always down for Google, but they need to come correct first. This phone is only worth $100 less.

Only thing really stopping me from copping the Pixel 5 inch is the water proof. Gotta admit, taking long shower watching a movie or HBO is absolute piff.

Google is Apparently Letting Verizon Handle Major Pixel System Updates | Droid Life

:snoop:

this is bad....do not get this phone from verizon if you expecting timely updates....had the galaxy nexus years ago......smh

Terrible decision (if it was Google's call). No reason to get carriers involved the most critical part of the update process. It's been shown time and time again that third parties (manufacturers and carriers) only make the process much worse (slower and unpredictable). Apple went through that so you could walk thru that door Google.

It's waterproof for rain and spills just not full submersion.
