Most companies just use the degree requirements to limit applicants. Because their too lazy and stupid to properly vet candidates.

Ever speak to any Corporate Recruiters lately? Most don't have the foggiest idea on what there doing. A month ago this Corporate Recruiter asked me to explain what half the shyt meant on the job description he sent me.
:gucci:
I'm like you couldn't ask the hiring manager these questions before screening candidates?

I hope this puts these colleges out of business. Most are just squandering the money they get for tuition yet continue to raise their prices.

True. I'm speaking in general of certificates and Licenses being asked more from companies than ever before

I've even seen plenty of Engineering positions that now say having a degree is optional. They rather have someone with PCB, CAD, or RFID design software experience

Those aren't engineering jobs then That's some technician shyt (not that there's anything wrong with that)

This will only apply to some jobs. You'll never be able to "Google degree" proper Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering, because a proper understanding of the fundamentals is key. And color me a traditionalist, but I don't see anything wrong with making sure college graduates have a basic grasp of culture and ethics and other subjects not directly related to their profession :yeshrug:

Seems like this certificate stuff should be appended to the trade schools we currently have. You can be a plumber or a basic coder, or go to college.

The problem with this is that you have to get companies on board. I can only speak from the IT world but a lot of companies value a degree way too much. They are asking for one for even basic entry level positions. That will need yo change for this program to be successful.

The value of a college degree has been declining for a decade. This will put a nail in the coffin

Employers are realizing specialized skilled based knowledge from a certificate/license/trade school are more employable than general textbook knowledge from a degree

For who?

Black people please dont fall for the Okee doke

I completely agree with the bolded. This should be seen more as an alternative to college rather than replacement.

Companies on board? The president already signed sn executive order to hire experience over college degree.. Apple, Google, Facebook already said you don't need a college degree to work for them just show your skills..

The problem is a lot of kids come to Companies with degrees and can't perform..

Keep in mind Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Reddit, Dell, Yahoo were all founded on COLLEGE campuses. The same companies now saying you dont need college? Why? Its because they dont want competitors rising up. If they can stifle innovation at its source its a win for them. Black people dont fall for the Okee Doke
