I don't do it any more simply because I didn't get a better workout. I lift for functional strength and aesthetics, not for powerlifting PRs. I also don't get much better of a workout with more weight especially since I don't use a weight belt or knee sleeves. If I want to kill legs, I throw pistols in between sets and do the real damage on the leg press. Squats are in the S+ class for snapping your shyt up if you ego lift.Yeah I don't do more than 3 plates, mainly because after loading up 3 plates it becomes tedious to deload.

You don't need heavy squats.
It's not smooth tho, its not a natural movement path with weight on ur back, just lower the weight on the squat rack and work ur way up while u fix ur formi use a smith machine for squats
I like the fact the smith machine forces you to use a smooth form

don't forget reverse quarter squats bossQuarter/half squats only developed more explosivenss in highly trained athletes vs full squats.
