So who are the best Afrobeats artists?Generally it's a little bland to me but went the latest Burna Boy album and liked what I heard. The production seemed to have more depth compared to the other stuff I've heard, granted I don't listen to it much

I'll take it one step further, Afrobeat will overtake Hip Hop

Good prediction. Rap is in a toxic place right now. Drug addict rappers dying or rappers being randomly killed whether by gang members or other outside forces, rappers who put on a minstrel show act etc.

People are drained when it comes to hip hop. Even the “trap music” has toxic elements. Society misses the times when music was a lot more uptempo and it was a lot of dancing . This is a big reason why Chris Brown music is still so popular, nobody wants the melancholy thing. We are in a new era and people are starving for some organic uptempo music on a wider scale.

Yeah it has grown. I think you said you lived in Inglewood before.Afrobeat night is the biggest night of the week at the Savoy in the wood. If you are familiar with the Savoy then you would know that it is a traditional west Indian club.

I’ve never lived in Inglewood. It’s def one of the areas I be in when i visit LA and I’ve been to the savoy back in early 2017 and I thought it was an African spot. First time I seen that many Africans in one place in California

Nah, it depends where you live. It isn't as clear cut as some are putting it. Even Africa is divided, its not just afrobeats ruling everything, there are places reggae is more popular, trap for others, dancehall for some, bongo flava, rhumba etc.

To put it in perspective, if vybz kartel were to visit my country today, he"ll have as large an audience or even larger than Burna Boy, who is Africa's largest artist now.

:whew:

Being a Chicago breh I can really appreciate this.

I could tell this is from SA right away because some of the beats and background melodies are recognizable.

I have been listening to this other shyt from SA...

This my shyt. :ohlawd:

What I wanted to know, what is this shyt? Is it still considered afrobeat or is afrobeat only relegated to Nigeria/Ghana/CoteD'Ivoire and the rest of West Africa?
