Idk about the poverty part for most. A lot of em came from families of musicians who were trained at the highest levels.

Or at least relatively well off families that allowed their children to become musicians instead of working in labor.

Including miles, who was upper middle class at worse.

I read a bunch of autobiographies and biographies on black musicians and athletes when I was younger. They were living CRAZY lives.


Smokey Robinson was RUNNING THROUGH HOES for like 15 years straight no fukks given.


Joe Jackson set up a system for groupies where a woman would have sex with Joe first, then Jackie, and then if the woman had anything left to give, Jermaine would get some.


Jackie, Jermaine, and Tito locked a 14 year old Michael in a hotel room with two hookers. Michael refused to have sex with them and when they opened the door Michael was reading them the bible out loud.

I think some of these current athletes and entertainers stories are just as wild. I think the difference is that famous folks use NDAs/buy off the media (which is why many try not to ruffle feathers) to keep the dirt secret. Also the current public is so snooty, uppity and a bunch of hypocrites the famous folks are not able to be honest. If they are then the ass hole hypocrite public try to be judgemental and cancel them or retroactively cancel them.

Hell yeah I’ve read it. About to read it again after I’m finish with this book about John Thompson. I love reading about black history. It reminds me how powerful we really are (as a community of innovator, creators, etc.).
