The heights
It’s possibly the reason we only won one game my guy

I think the staff called some fugazi plays, but this guy still throwing into double coverage, still waiting to throw, missing throws, throwing behind the wr, like i get it if they felt fields was not the answer, they literally could have moved back because nothing about Caleb was 1st round to me, and (you) as a nd fan should know after that game that boy was exposed
So answer me this question why is Caleb playing better this season so far :jbhmm: and why is last season break out WR Brian Thomas jr is struggling so far and Rome
odunze is having a great season so far :jbhmm: Why did jaxon smith njigba struggle, his rookie season but broke out last season :jbhmm:

Who is the common denominator? :jbhmm:

People already calling for floos head in Dallas, Waldron was a fukking terrorist. DC got let go for still unknown reasons.

The team was a fukking circus but lets blame the rookie.

So whats more likely, this is a hit piece or every single coach on that team was a bytch. Because this is reading like they got utterly bytched by a sassy rookie.
Organization could have leaned on the staff, it’s not impossible, thing is like @prime say shyt some where in the middle

The most dramatic spectacle of them all occurred on Dec. 26. His team was hosting the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. Commercials rolled during a timeout, so nobody at home saw this poignant moment that perfectly summarized the 2024 Chicago Bears. In the wake of two firings, heartbreaking defeats, staggering to the finish line of an agonizing 5-12 season, interim head coach Thomas Brown tried to explain something to his starting quarterback and… no. Williams was not having it.

An auto-response kicked in.

As he had done many times to many coaches all season, Williams turned his head and walked away. Shane Waldron, before getting fired as offensive coordinator, used to stay quiet. Not Brown. Not a stern, blunt, old-school coach who believed this 22-year-old crossed a line of disrespect. The typically calm coach lost it. On the headset, another Bears assistant coach recalls Brown pressing the mic to finish his conversation: “Get your ass back here right now! Don’t fukking walk away when I’m talking to you!”

Unfazed, Williams sashayed away. Right back to the huddle.

The Bears lost, 6-3.

“That’s when you knew the world was coming to an end,” one coach says.

they were doing Drake Maye bad. i will say Ryan Poles doesnt come out of this whole thing looking really good. as much as they wanna drag Caleb. Pole is coming away as not a good person
The worst football moments of Drake Maye’s collegiate football life were plastered on the screen for all to breathe in. This was no accident. Multiple people inside this 2024 draft meeting say they knew exactly what Ryan Poles was up to. “He’s not sneaky,” recalls one scout, “and he thinks he is.” The Chicago Bears general manager, it appeared, was implanting the worst possible first impression he could inside the minds of his personnel men.

It wasn’t pretty. Under constant duress, he completed less than half of his passes vs. Clemson. He ran for his life vs. Miami.

Clicker in hand, at the center of the room, Poles repeatedly hit rewind on errant passes and it didn’t take long for those echoes of “Geez!” to turn into outright laughter. Poles and his confidants were not interested in sparking a substantive conversation about the North Carolina quarterback. This draft meeting resembled a bully in the high school cafeteria seeking toadies — any veneer of scouting objectivity was shed.

Maye escaped free runners, threw at awkward angles, sailed incompletions. At times, the spiral of his ball was off. Other times, the receiver broke in and the ball was thrown out. All funky plays were magnified and mocked to make it appear as if this is exactly who he’d become as a pro quarterback.

Poles chimed in.

“This tape makes my chest tight,” one source recalls the GM saying.

All but a select few scouts broke out in laughter.

One brave soul did speak up. Chris White, the team’s assistant director of pro scouting that spring, called out Poles. “We’re dragging this kid through the mud,” he said. North Carolina’s receiving corps was hurting that final ’23 season. White asked his boss to show another game out of fairness. So, he did. Maye started gunning NFL-level throws downfield and White spoke up again. “I like that there,” he said. Two narratives were now clashing. Poles didn’t hit rewind on these plays. Inside the room, one scout recalls the mood turning tense.

After negative plays, Poles made a wry comment: “Dirt ball there” or “You like that, too?”

Laughter picked back up. The team’s area scout, Ryan Cavanaugh, flatly stated that he didn’t believe Maye was a very good player and Poles jumped in to reset the temperature of the room. “I agree,” he said.

Eventually, the GM set the clicker down. “This guy,” he repeated, “makes my chest tight watching this.”

Case closed. Maye was stacked out of the first round.

“They made fun of him,” says one Bears scout in the room. “They laughed. The GM laughed Drake Maye off the screen, and cut the tape off.”

You mean a rookie that was at worst the third most hyped QB prospect this century? The same rookie whose camp allegedly had asked for an ownership stake for him? You're acting like he was just any other rookie. He was the most hyped QB prospect along with Luck and Lawrence we've seen since 2000. There is a very good chance he was feeling like he could do whatever he wants. Not saying that it was the case, but you are pretty much dismissing that possibility and clearly believe it was the coaches being bitter.

He played relatively fine against de/mn and obliterated dallas as any good qb should.

Have you seen what those defenses are doing to other qbs right now :mjlol:

Lamar got sacked like 8 times :dead:

Its always a lot of fluff around zesty qb but no one ever wants to stamp their name :jbhmm:

Lots of allegedlies and anonymous sources.

Ben Johnson seems to have none of these issues with Caleb, is he just that less of a heaux than literally every in the building last yea?

Okay lets go with everything in here is true. Caleb obviously is progressing and waldron/flose still absolute shyt. Them dudes are retards and the whole team tuned them out

Never forget Percy Harvin beat up his wr coach, and told urban they ain’t running stadiums no more

Look it’s not far fetched that organizations don’t treat high picks with kid gloves, that said, i believe it’s some truth maybe not the whole story but truth

When a gm likes a guy i believe e they all do this
This is so fukking stupid to care about unless Drake Maye was also in the room during this, otherwise who cares
If our gm locked in on a guy and steered the decision that way with no acceptance of criticism that’s malpractice, hell the mf before him was stuck on Mitch… so shyt tracks

I mean I think outside of a couple moves Poles is rather meh as a GM but this particular instance is whatever. No one would even know about this if somebody didnt want some easy clicks

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think there are signs that Williams felt like he could do whatever he wanted.

Honestly, I never got the hype in college for him. He runs backwards a lot, holds the ball in his hand like a maniac, and always seems to try to throw off balance. I'm not saying he won't be great, but I never got the hype.
