THats not the argument. Not talking bout peaks. Kobe at his peak arguably better than MJ (87 point Kobe). Shaq at his peak arguably better than Kareem. Doesn't make em better overall. U can't pick the best 2-3 years from a player and then forget about all the other shyt they did, like it didn't exist.

Read the quote homie. Talking peaks not overall. ITs like y'all r here to be intentionally dense. The guy came in talking bout peaks. It seems that thats all the Dream fans have, and I can respect it if u say Dreams peak was higher than Duncans, tho I disagree. But to only use this as ur basis for who is better is asinine. Its like arguing with children. Every Dream fan as entered into the thread talking bout Dream 94-96 acting like those are the only years he played.

Screwston (Houston),Texas..KCFWH!
If you bring what Hakeem did to Robinson into it I've never seen anyone demolished like that. In the NY finals I thought Ewing did ok guarding hakeem he just couldn't do enough on offense. I thought Hakeem against shaq was really impressive though. That whole Rocket team reached a peak it didn't look like they had in them that year or even after, and Hakeem was the driving force.

Pat wasnt doing a good job holding Dream..Actually the one who was making it tough for Dream was Anthony Mason.

Don't ever in your life make a stupid analogy like that again. Brady is much closer to being the GOAT than Duncan is.

You would take Brady and cheatin' ass Belichek over Montana and Marino. Matter of fact, you think Brady and Marino are in the same league as far as quarterbacking is concerned?

Winning is a TEAM effort. I'm waiting for nikkaz to start arguing Ginobili was a better player than Vince Carter, you know it's comin.

:what:

are we seriously gonna compare finals stats of a guy who went against JASON fukkING COLLINS in the finals to a guy who went up against Shaq and Pat Ewing in the finals?

SERIOUSLY?

:wtf:

yes he was CLEARLY better on both ends.

That doesn't mean he shyts on him, that just means that if you ask 10 people who watched both of em, 8 or 9 would say the same thing.

Do you feel that duncan was the better offensive player?
Do you feel that duncan was the better defensive player?
Have you factored in Duncan playing for the goat coach, or the extra impact duncan had on defense due to rule changes?

Why would you spit on your black brother?

/thread. :birdman: at anybody comparing a great 90s player to a great 00s player. Zone defense, no hand checking, weak foul calls. Especially at C:

Hakeem
D-Rob
Ewing
Zo
Shaq

Do you think Duncan could even shut down Rik Smits? :krs: :ld: Y'all nikkaz will debate anything for the sake of debating

Cool, so now we down to the crux of it. U like the way Dream's game looked better than how Duncan's looks. Thats got nothing to do with who is the better player.

Ok please tell us in a unbiased and objective manner how Duncan is a better player than Hakeem. Everybody more or less agrees Duncan will have a better career than Hakeem but he's definitely not better a individual player.

Hakeem was a better scorer. He had the complete offensive package, he could back you down in the post or he could take you out to the perimeter and shoot fade ways for you. His prime offensive peak easily trumps Duncans and he consistently was more efficient in scoring the ball while he faced much tougher competition. I would say that passing was pretty much equal with a slight edge to Duncan. Hakeem also has the edge in rebounding. Hakeem was a better pick and roll defender. He had quick feet that enabled him to stop a lot of guard penetration without the help of zones back in his day. Duncan was always considered flat footed and slow overall. Hakeem was also a better shot block blocker and better at creating turnovers. He is #1 all time in blocks and #8 in steals from the center position. So it's really hard to be better then someone when that person dominates you in every aspect of basketball.

I tried the same argument earlier in the thread. A few duncan supporters caught feelings. They just arent listening cuz.
One more thing. What would dreams numbers look like if he got to go against smaller 4's for most of his career.

Having the target on your back as champion can't be underestimated. I atleast think that if you are gonna be considered a great champion you should be able to have the will to defend it and not go out early the next season. From the 80s onward Jordan (2x), Magic, Isiah, Shaq, Kobe (2x), Dream have all stepped up to that challenge. Why didn't Duncan? The only other I think in the same boat is Larry Bird. I'm not saying he isn't an all time great but he's below some one who did have the will to defend a championship with every team giving them their best each night. It's just the way I see that particular debate when people bring it up.

I have Akeem ranked higher than duncan but to discredit duncan because he didn't win back 2 back is asinine. There were plenty of circumstances that prevented that.

2000- Duncan was injured before the started.

2004 - They lost D rob, steven jackson, kerr. Their big signings hedo and rasho shyt the bed in the playoffs

2006 - Manu's bad foul on Dirk

2008 - Lakers given a trade by god himself (stern).

My alltime fave center led the league in scoring. Nice footwork in the post, really nice jumper, and constantly beat opposing centers up and down the court. On defense no one entered mr robinsons neighborhood. Except hakeem:to: But he was up there with dream and mt. Mutumbo with the blocks and altered shots.like dream if he had better teammates he wouldve won more than duncan. Sean elliot,my niggga, and avery johnson can only helo get you so far. And I coulda swore I saw him drop 72 points on somebody. Not for sure though
