Yes
Low key, this is an interesting debate.
I would say no. Westbrook is the better athlete, rebounder, and slasher. Payton is the greatest defensive pg ever, better passer, and more efficient scorer. He had a good post-up game also. Now that I think about it, I would love to see Russ vs. a '96 Glove one-on-one.
Well pg defense isn't as important as rim protectors...i think Russ is on another level on offense GP used to put in work tho
Stat nerds are in here taking Russ over Payton because he took more shots and got more uncontested rebounds.
God damn I wish I was a basketball GM and the rest of these posters were my competition.
Let's start trying to build a championship team - I get Payton and you get Russ.
What's next - you get Harden and I get Kawhi? You get Aldridge and I get Draymond? You get Derozan and I get Klay?
This game gonna be fun.![]()
While I agree that Russ is a better scorer , The Glove only averaged about 6 points less in their career coupled with being probably the best perimeter defender ever at his position. My mans got 9 All defensive teams compared to Russ's 0...shiiiiet .You really think GP is on Russ level offensively? I'm just not seeing it bro

Word. GP was a 9x 1st team defender. Russ aint playing D like that. He cant. He cant carry the team like he does and lock down the other teams best player every night. He'd be dog shyt tired.lol at comparing Gary Payton and Russ.
Like they're even in the same league
Not just at his position. He was arguably the best in the league. While I agree that Russ is a better scorer , The Glove only averaged about 6 points less in their career coupled with being probably the best perimeter defender ever at his position. My mans got 9 All defensive teams compared to Russ's 0...shiiiiet .
The Glove's the only PG in league history to win DPOY.
The Sonics won 2 games in a row when they put Payton on JordanIs that right?
I didn't know that.
