Too much to name. Growing up in Chicago #westside it's life. I didn't realize that gangs or all this bs didn't exist 3 miles north of me until I got to college. All my friends are in gangs , dead, jail. Been chased down getting shot at, set up, robbed at gunpoint countless times. It's literal. Hell. Not sure if it's bettered or worsened me. I've learnt allot, strong as fck mentally. But I'm always paranoid, tweaking, trust is gone . Ptsd all kinds of ish . So idk

We don't have a lot of gangs in the Bay Area. I'm from N. California. We have turfs. Oakland and Richmond nikkas used to be beefing tough. Oakland used to be way crazier. I remember when every block was basically it's own gang. The Asians and Latinos bang out here but I can walk through their areas and be fine because I'm black and they know we don't have gangs.

Yes. Gangs made me who I am today. If you was around me, you would see that I have a true poker face/ blank expression most of the time. I got jumped by gangs way too many fukking times growing up because passing them was my only way to get to school
I tried fighting back and talking my way through it sometimes, but after a while I just became desensitized too it and just took those ass whoopings and L's. Those nikkas were taller and bigger than me too. I did that because I dam sure was not joining them no matter what. After many ass whoopings they stopped, when they got no reaction and a blank expression from me. I was risking my life to get a education and I really developed a thick skin from it. Needless to say these same people look out for me now .

Living among these streets have made me hardly scared of anything in life. I seen alot if shyt, even though I was not directly involved in it. Im like a fly on the wall.

Also 3 years ago I was a bystander in the middle of a shootout , and felt like I was about to get hit with a bullet and die. These nikkas had the most terrible accuracy ever .

But Thank God nothing happened to me

I'm from South Central. Gang shyt effected every part of your life as a man once you got big enough. As a kid you could be pretty obvious to it but even then it effected you. Why your friends couldn't play in the front yard, why your friends couldn't come over your house, why that girl got killed watering her grass etc. I've lost a lot of people to gang shyt. Either in jail or underground. My brother and cousin got shot in the same week in completely different parts of the city. My brother survived while my cousin died. My brother was just walking home. My cousin was just walking his girl to the corner.Being paranoid of every car driving by, conscious of what colors you wear, how you walk, how you talk, the different between fire crackers and gunshots, careful of what you say around who etc. Anybody from the hood can tell you that shyt is engraved in your soul. I don't even live in the hood anymore and I still check cars that are behind me when I'm walking.

Got a few cousins who were about that life heavy and ended up getting killed.

Got some cousins who still on that but luckily they still here.

Almost got robbed by some GD's when I was in high school. I got out that jam tho.

there are a number of middle class neighborhoods out south. where I live is mostly middle class.

where lives, there are mostly mansions on the blocks surrounding his spot. but then apartment buildings like 1-2 blocks away with regular folks living in em.
