i see where OP is coming from.

on the east coast. people my age(mid-30s) on down, generally never really paid him much mind.
but he has alot of fans in their 40s that were fully around for his true prime in the early '90s, which sorta predates modern-day rap history by a couple years.

it doesnt help that he lacks signature go-to songs that were either groundbreaking bangers or smash hits. definitely has nothing for the clubs. its pretty much just "mind playing tricks" and maybe a couple others can be argued.

hes more of a "favorite rapper's favorite rapper" type, like people said earlier.

Bro, I'm pretty sure you said that you bump Eminem and consider his first few albums classic. You ain't really the person to try to tell people what Blacks listen to.

find a post saying I bump Eminem and I’ll cashapp you $50

Come on. fukk Faces..Smile..you know better than that.

:dwillhuh:

Mind Playing Tricks on me is a 90s hip hop tier 1 classic

Smile and Homies and Thugs are essential parts of Pac and Master P's runs...and I know for a FACT got major run in the A in the late 90s

You never heard cats bumping the singles from The Fix...the rocafella collabs?

Face ain't some obscure niche or regional act, I'm legit befuddled by this take

I clearly said besides his Geto Boys shyt and Smile, I’ve never heard anyone playing any Scarface while riding through Atlanta or while in any clubs, bars or lounges.

Some of y’all can’t comprehend :unimpressed:

No one was riding around blasting scarface out their car or begging ppl to put him on at the block party if that's what you mean
honestly outside of local rappers and major NYC artists like Jay, DMX, Jada, Mobb Deep etc wasn't no one really playing other regional acts all crazy like that
I remember ppl thinking I was a weirdo for hyping up goodie mobb and cash money :manny:
If you said you were a e-40 or rapping 4-tay fan you'd probably get laughed out the room

People answers to this probably going be heavily influenced by the region and era they from

precluding his work in an iconic group of which he was the defining lead member and one of his biggest solo project singles is stupid enough on its face...but you’ve never in life heard fukk Faces or Guess Who’s Back played anywhere...let alone in ATL when he has a gang of songs that were all over urban radio :gucci:
