With $17.1 million, Scarlett Johansson's 'Lucy' easily topped Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's 'Hercules' at the box office on Friday.
Based on Friday results, at least, the Summer box office slump seems to be drawing to an end this weekend. Sci-fi action movie Lucy opened in first place with an exceptional $17.1 million haul. Meanwhile, Hercules outperformed modest expectations, though it will probably still fall short of $30 million this weekend.

Not that I wasn't Hoping for The Rock to succeed, I just don't think yhat he should have been the 1 making this Movie. Seemed like a Dumb Idea for him from the Start, just be Black Adam, Hobbs, etc. any other Characters that fit you and STFU Rock. He was Great in Pain & Gain but that doesn't mean that he can go and do any role he wants. Yes, I feel like The World wasn't Ready for a Naturally Tanned Skin Hercules because he's Mixed, CACs don't even like our President so why would this have Worked? Because he's Buff? Nah.

Love Rock but this movie looked kinda 
from the trailers. I haven't really liked any of his more serious roles . Like dudes above me said, his bread and butter should be action flicks/comic book/comedies that can show that charisma. He could easily carry a comic book franchise

Just got back from the theater 
I'm no film buff, but this movie vastly exceeded my expectations. It had everything I want in a summer blockbuster; interesting storyline, cool action scenes, and funny one liners. I've never been a fan of the sword and sandal genre, but Dwayne killed it with this one. Might not be for the serious film enthusiast, but this was great to me.
