I would say this has more truth to it starting in the mid-1700s maybe. I don't think that's true for the earliest revolts from the 1500s to mid-1700s.

So, after that point, what else would they be based on when most of the enslaved were converted? It's not like slaveholders were out there allowing enslaved Africans to link up for cultural preservation initiatives and conferences on traditional culture We're talking generations of Africans born into enslavement and socialized into Christianity. They knew that life in bondage was unacceptable and they clawed for whatever resistance-supporting kernels of ideas and concepts they could find in what they were exposed to.

If you push christian men far enough, undoubtedly a few will eventually grab their nuts. Few and far between of course. And the ones who grab their nuts will have to fight tooth and nail to convince other negroes "not to let jesus fight that battle for them".
