Nothing going over our heads because of age, that logic is terrible. The longer you enjoy/study an art, the more you know about it and the more you appreciate it. This is the type of shyt rappers were making in their 20s in the 90s.

These new mainstream rappers are immature as fukk and just embarrassing in comparison.

im 24 and can easily say that this generation hip hop is wack as fukk. all those dudes u mentioned are fukking wack and retarted

good beats, yes
good melodies, yes
whip music, yes

classic material and mind blowing lyrics with groundbreaking and original production? nah

will you ever read a review of any of their albums quoting it as a 5 star classic with genius creativity? nah

will any of this music be mentioned amongst the greatest of all time hip hop music, not even fukking close.

low level, dumb lyrics about dumb shyt
I disagree with this.
There's several rappers making music RIGHT NOW that I'd put up against
any era of Hip-Hop whether that's lyricism or production only one or two can be found
on the radio, the rest of em are at work on smaller independent labels.

Some older rappers, some younger rappers, some in between but generally they're all artists doing
hot shyt NOW. IMO. And I could name more but I'm not near my music collection.

good beats and melodies >>>>>>>>>> that other imaginary shyt.

But like you basically said, you don't even expect people to be riding with it 2 years from now. Textbook disposable music. it'll be here today and gone tomorrow.

I just turned 30 last month. What you're saying is partially correct but the music is still relatively trash. The quality and skill level of today's artist is lacking and that's undeniable. Our ears are just used to better music. We not only grew up with good Hip Hip but the entire music scene was just top tier. There was no debate on "who's trash" because nobody you heard that was a major player was trash. Everybody had some type of skill. Now the bar is set so low you have above average rappers being labeled as Hip Hop messiahs when they're really not that special when you but em under the magnifying glass.

This is revisionist garbage... We let Shaq drop an album :mjlol:

tha tour p1 is genuinely brilliant but nothing else done by any1 in op has any meaningful significance or top level quality.

but there is a reasonable # of artists worth checking for rn, its just that # is at an all time low and i wouldn't bank on any of those # dropping a fully realized masterpiece.

and that's a sorry state of affairs and why i think rap is at a low ebb

INFAMOUS
OB4CL
LIQUID SWORDZ
CHRONIC/2001
ILLMATIC
ETC
