What are you saying we resort to guns yet it was your generation catching record bodies a year? Thots and clubs ain't nothing new, everything that is once was. It's true. Kids today resort to guns cause they can't fight. "The streets" is being dictated by drunken thots in strip clubs now. All the beats and dances are not being dictated by dudes anymore.

The Rodney King and LA Uprising effect. It's a generational thing. Kids today, whether they come from the street or the burba, are frail as hell. They don't have hands and they all, and they came from super goon brehs of Generation X.
The "streets" lost their way when they catered songs to the strip club to get females dancing. OD'ing on that killed raw masculinity in the mainstream.
Some older heads also said that getting rid of black power movements and songs also helped The invasion of HipHop.

This article bothers me a lot. Why does black masculinity correlates with drugs, guns, and violence? Why does the disappearance of one style of rap ( gangsta rap) mean that there's less masculinity in rap?. That's just dumb. Can't being pro black and having a form of self awareness be considered masculine? Look at Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Big Krit, and Immortal technique. Would people consider these artist music less masculine because their subjects differ from 50 cent, Chiek Keef, and DMX?.
This article pitted two extremes against each other and came out looking ignorant.
Edit:If this article was written by OP, pardon the language. I generally like your post on most issues.

yeah the masculine element in hip hop today is missing. maybe im reaching, but im tired of these frail druggie nikkas who will sell their soul for a contract. im tired of these suburban nerd nikkas who dont respect the history of rap and is on that new nikka shyt, like Tyler The Creator and etc.
no im not saying i want the reagan era to come back, or that i want the days of grimy gangster nikkas to come back (and they havent dissapeared in the first place, they're just not in the spotlight like they were in 1990 - 1998), but being a man with integrity needs to come back. these rap nikkas today are not only feminine in the way they dress (arguably) but with their mentalities
being masculine doesnt mean you have to be a rela thug who shoots nikkas. it just means being a stand up guy who is fighting for something. a nikka who can put his men on. nikkas who move in silence and carry themselves accordingly
alot of nikkas complaining that they want the masculinity of rap to come back are just nikkas who want the drug dealing boss/gangster element to come back in rap. like TroyAve. Which is equally as problematic because alot of drug lord/bosses are grimy nikkas with no honor who will put kids in harms way just to maintain their riches. Troy Ave of all people is a piece of shyt so while i do want the old days to come back, i dont want it to come back for the same reasons he wants it to come back
so i think a median is needed. some elements from back in the day, some elements from today
