Q: Does "The Vault" really exist?
A: Yes it does. Dre's vault is the stuff of legend. It is almost mythical. I have sworn to secrecy about its location so i won't touch that part. Have I Ever been in there? Ha, If I told you that I'd have to k!ll you. What is in the vault? The vault basically has every track dre has ever recorded. He has copies of everything he did on de@th Row but can never release. You can't even imagine how many instrumentals that have accumulated over the years I've been at Aftermath. It's in the thousands. Dre keeps all his music for his own personal use and listening. He basically keeps them as a soundtrack to his life. Most of the leftovers will never be heard. Most of the unused instrumentals will never be heard, at least while Dre is alive. There is enough music to release hundreds of albums so Dre could possibly live through music for many additional lifetimes. But you'll most likely never hear them. I don't know what will happen when Dre passes away. it depends upon who controsl his massive estate. Hopefully that is many years from now, though.

I have had the privalege to hear a lot of music you will never have a chance to hear and for that i am sorry. Dre usually does a great job of using the right beats and songs, but some of the unreleased music is some of the dopest sh#t I have ever heard. We sometimes are in awe of what Dre tosses out but Dre knows what Dre wants. Who are we to argue. We may plead and beg but in the end its Dre's music so he can do with it what he wants. I truly wish that I could let you hear the music because you are missing out on some the most innovative and dope unreleased music in the history of this business. From ruthless to Aftermath there is truly some great tracks out there than only Dre will ever hear. If I knew how to do it I might be able to post some old Ruthless Dr. Dre remixes that are very very rare. I got these tracks from Dre cause they were released in very limited edition so they qualify as released.
Anyway, The Vault is real and does contain close to the entire Dre creative library. I am honored to have heard a lot of mind blowing unreleased Dre tracks. But alas, like you guys I am sure there is a lot of great sh#t in there that I, along with the rest of the human race, will never hear. Peace.

:mjcry:

this vault is what they say about a lot of artist. prince supposedly has a vault of shyt from his prime years in the 80s of unreleased stuff. so does michael jackson. just blaze even says he has a gang of unreleased roc-a-fella and jay-z songs that he has in a vault.

however, whenever one of these artist actually "leaks" shyt from their vaults its usually underwhelming as hell. I have a feeling that a lot of the shyt in dre's vault is weak and is unreleased for a good reason.

Dre probably got some dope ass shyt in there. He actually hated Deep Cover. Suge made him release it.

or selfish!

I see it as he was a perfectionist, and wanted his shyt to be top notch, at the cost of other artists not getting his time.

fukk it you right, he was probably as lazy ass too. The nikka been making money from music since his younger years, and never had to do any other shyt besides music, except fukk, eat, shyt, smoke, and look at his back account. He let others do the work because without him no one's eating. The good life:ahh: of a narcissist:scusthov:

but in his defense....

Dr. DRE has been exploited as well....

so he doesn't wanna just be content with the Producer role

being an EXECUTIVE PRODUCER is more rational but unfortunately to be a good executive you have to be a good business man

and Dre just comes from a culture of bad business

since he got started with Lonzo Williams of the World Class Wrecking Cue

then the Ruthless situation with Eazy E and Jerry Heller

and then Death Row which is self explanatory

even Interscope just treated Aftermath as a Artist Development camp as opposed to a legit label

so laying back and getting credit for others work is the name of the game

CAPITALISM

:manny:

I can't call the Aftermath situation EXPLOITATION cause they have no claims of theft or fraud...just a lack of work...

and they (Hittman...Stat Quo) were fully aware of it and just sat there

cause they were content with being SUBCONTRACTORS and DRE ain't the only one that does this

SHAWTY RED got credit for tracks that a producer I know named Fatboi did such as SENSUAL SEDUCTION for Snoop...and many Gucci and Jeezy tracks

producers so thirsty for association and placement they willing to let another get the credit to brownose thier way to greater things

in some cases like SCOTT STORTCH it works on many it don't

so it's not a case of EGO but lack of business perspective on a lot of these guys such as Hittman

he admitted he got complacent he saw Aftermath as a VISA BLACK CARD

so Dre shouldn't be seen as the narcissist

he just had a business model that the others should have dealt with better by having options

I don't think I will ever truly get over Rakim not dropping that Dre produced album :mjcry:

I completely understand (and agree)...

BUT...

Can we really fault Dre for that album not dropping? It's been 50-11 years since Ra left Aftermath and he's had 1 album since then (7th Seal)......If Ra was really trying to make music we'd have something from him. I don't honestly think Dre was the problem.

BUT, I'd still love to hear an album from them... :sadcam:

idk sometimes the producer is an unreliable narrator of sorts

if havoc had his way initially Survival of the Fittest and Shook Ones woulda been in "the vault"

Aftermath will go down as one of the biggest "what ifs" in rap history. Dre should at least drop a Lost Tapes project on iTunes and let people hear some of those sessions

We're going to eat so extravagantly when he dies :mjcry:

Iono man
Dre being lazy iono man
His work ethic still got him all them millions and made him the top rap earner now. why the fukk would you want to fukk it up when doing that puts you in that decision.

Sttill fukk you Dr. Dre man :to: ya lazy b*stard
no way am i gonna shyt on what dre did, cuz his NWA/Death Row credentials have him certified, but dude simply lucked into a meal ticket with Em, and because of Em, he fell into 50/GUnit. other than that, aftermath and dre and have been underwhelming. Beats was a good business move, using his brand as the production god made those hot in street, but on the music front, dude had luck of the draw keeping him afloat and earning $$$, he's a huge disappointment
