Homosexuality in Hip-Hop :dame: was Tyler the first to come out on record? Is this a new beginning or the end?

He IS alt rap but he is embraced by the upper echelons of hip-hop. And that's off raw talent + hard work and consistency. He isn't being co-signed for the sake of being co-signed.
I’m talking about the consumers. He’s not embraced at all. He has a stanbase but that’s not what I’m talking about

When have you ever heard a Tyler the creator song in a social setting since he came out?

Stanbase is still a fanbase. It's not a bad thing. All music doesn't have to be made for social gatherings.

It's definitely a new beginning but "the end"? Nah. The "end" will most likely be the result of overconsumption, not rappers coming out as gay. There also isn't enough evidence, or rappers, to come to that conclusion.

I do think Tyler is bisexual ("Garden Shed")but I also think he includes certain :dame:lines (white boys) to illicit a response.

Artists don't sell out arenas based solely off their niche fanbase. He's popular. In a setting like now where rap music is the dominant genre for young and young-ish people, even the non-mainstream pockets will be huge in cities. Meaning there are going to be a ton of Tyler fans in every noteworthy city and surrounding suburbs, but there will also be plenty of casual fans who aren't stans but fukk with that strain of rap.

Ironically a lot of the "played in a social setting" artists you guys talk about can't sell out an amphitheater.

Tyler don’t move a needle in hip hop, he not a temp gauge or barometer, he just an attention hungry rapper
He's the first openly bisexual mainstream rapper. And he makes great music. Maybe not a barometer in the flabby world but he is one of the post 2010s legends

Nah Tyler is popular among white frat boy types. He doesn’t have black women and you black males which are the ones that dictate what’s hot.

The hottest artist don’t sell out arenas like that because their fans can’t afford shows and they haven’t built up that type of following yet

He isn’t nerd rap, he’s in an alt rap type space.

While I agree I think their point still stands. He's not the barometer which means that his sexuality likely will not affect or influence the next crop of artists or the genre.

The same thing was probably said about Lil B. Now a large percentage of rappers during and after his emergence are influenced by him. He's the most influential rapper of the 2010-present era next to Wayne and Keef. Keef even got put on by Lil B

Even someone like DaBaby influenced rapper's flows for a period of time. It's something that just happens
