That’s because you are looking at it from a coli perspective, and here almost everything revolves around race.

In the real world sometimes race plays a factor and sometimes it doesn’t. When these dudes are putting together a staff I think they go with who they think will work best for them first and foremost, regardless of race. When a black coach finally gets a chance to lead a team, I think they just go with who they perceive to be the best dude available. Sometimes that’s black coordinators, sometimes it’s not.

What? Bruce Arians is just Cedric the Entertainer in disguise, so he hires Black assistants.

The few Black coaches that have the balls to hire Black coordinators/staff and building a new culture are already walking a tight rope.

More than half the players in the league are Black, but when it comes to important culture building careers on these teams, suddenly everyone is colorblind :skip:

Dumb ass take

And it doesn’t even make sense. Once again the coli is so stuck on race. This makes me think y’all gotta be white dudes trolling. Nobody in the real world is obsessed with it the way yall are. You talking about team culture building :russ:

You think the players give a fukk about if their OC is black or white? They just want a dude they gel with who puts them in a system to put the best play on tape in order to win and get paid.

Last year, there were four Black offensive coordinators in the league, three of whom were fired or not retained by the end of the season. This year, there are just three — which, according to USA TODAY Sports research, is the league's annual average since the 2003 implementation of the Rooney Rule that requires teams to interview diverse candidates for vacancies at key positions.

NFL Coaches Diversity Report 2023: Pittsburgh Steelers' staff still leads league (Coaches of color 68.4%). For those who make disparaging remarks about Tomlin as if he’s not doing his part in providing opportunities for black coaches.

Since you're just going to repeat yourself, I'll say this for the posterity of the thread.

'The best guy for the job' line is a myth. Black coaches/staff are actively being kept away from these jobs because cacs are aware they have a higher chance of gelling with the player and don't want to lose control. Race matters, divide and conquer.

And like we saw with Deion, if you're able to show that it's possible to disrupt the status quo, they will conspire against you. Players do care about the backgrounds of their coaches, but the culture of the NFL stifles any kind of talk like that from the player, look what they did to Kaepernick.

Players have a lot more power in the NBA, and they're way more vocal about it. Dame had leverage, pushes for a coach, he picks Chauncey. Giannis has leverage, pushes for a coach he picks AG, that's not a coincidence.

It doesn't need to be talked about at all. One star. :beli:

Doesn't work that way, that's why. Plus, there's not a lack of black position coaches/coordinators anymore. :why: What is it with cats always trying to start drama between black people? And got the nerve to act like it's only white people doing it? :what:

They switched it up and Black coaches were left behind. Used to have to follow a certain trajectory in order to qualify as a HC. Now, just stand next to McVay and you’re getting interviewed. Can’t remember if it was Bomani or Dominique but they mentioned how the path to being an OC is a backup QBs game. And a majority of backup QBs were White and it’s how a McCown or Dilfer get to skip the line and get considered for HC at the pro/college level respectively. Texans Slowik came in the game a defensive assistant in 2011 and moved to the offensive side in 2019 as a passing game coordinator and got an OC gig this past season. Not saying these guys aren’t qualified but when their friends get jobs, they get a promotion on a much faster trajectory than their Black counterparts.

You see the same at the NBA level where some older Black coaches shyt on analytics and they use that not to hire others.

Look at how quickly some of these dudes go from being an actual on the field coach (not QC or grad assistant). Steichen got his first shot a decade ago. Staley got his first collegiate coordinator gig at 27 (not even FBS) and was in the pros by 35 and a HC by 38. Now contrast that with EB. Bienemy been an on field coach at the collegiate level since 2001 and the pros since 2006 and has won two SBs as an OC and you have folks still holding a funky ass DUI he got at CU in 01-02 against him. Game is rigged, no matter how many posters get on here and try to say it’s all in our heads and we’re fixated on race. We can’t all be crazy if we’re all seeing the same thing.
