Harden leaves OKC, gets better probable MVP
Durant leaves OKC, gets better and wins a ring
Oladipo leaves OKC, gets better and leads Pacers
Paul George and Carmelo Anthony join OKC and get worse :salute:

Carmelo Anthony has not been a good player for a while now though.

You guys just weren't paying attention because he was on the Knicks. Derrick Rose coming off injuries was better than he was that only season together.

Melo game didnt age well because he didn't age well.

He don't get any lift on his shot, so his accuracy suffers. He's too heavy for his playing style so his driving suffers because he gets no lift. NY fukked him up,
Melo game required him to be light because his 1st step was needed to get his shot off. Optimal imo for melo would be the 218-225 range

AI was 160, perfect for his game and he relied on speed, imagine if he was 190, hed probably suffer as well.

Melo's game didn't age well because he's essentially a one-dimensional player. And to make matters worse his one dimension (being a volume scorer) was made redundant thrice by his teammates.

I'm not buying the Melo being out of shape angle. He's about where he's always been physically, it's just that he's always been a player who only contributed scoring the basketball and if he's not doing that, it's glaring how bad he is.

His knee issues have definitely zapped his athleticism, but not his first step as much as people think. He's completely incapable of finishing at the rim and that's what's killed his first step. He can't finish with contact and most of the time he just heaves it at the rim or backboard and tries to get his own rebound. He can't even draw fouls...It's hard to watch.

His game hasn't evolved at all and he doesn't know how to affect the game if he's not making contested midrange jumpers.

seeing him miss this many spot up jumpers this year was excruciating

because if he isnt draining those...where is the majority of his offense going to come from?

It's pretty telling when all of the excuses for Melo in here revolve around his offensive game.

Can't talk defense.
Can't talk boards.
Can't talk passing.

Hes a good rebounder and a good passer

He’s been washed for like a decade. I’d have to think, but he’s probably the most overrated nba player of all time. Had he floundered away in charlotte instead of New York getting gassed up for mediocrity he would have stopped being a name Like 5 years ago

Here's the issue with this

If you believe Melo is a SF, he's technically a top rebounder as he averaged 5.7 this year. That would put him in the top 5.
If you believe Melo is too slow to play the 3, and has to be at the 4, then he drops to the 17th ranked rebounder in the league.

Melo only posted double digit rebounds in 7 games last year. If you count games with 9 boards it increases to 14. So ask yourself, for 28million a year, is that a "good rebounder"?

What was his best year and did he ever play with a good PG who can assist well? I remember Andre Miller back in Dener (not sure Melo played with him)

Melo doesn't move well period, doesn't move without the ball well either. But he was a beast for a while In DENVER.

Post up spin was lethal, I won't say it's a weight issue cuz he was never fast and he can still put up 20 a game.

I think the new NBA style just changed completed.

And lebrons style is just more favorable but still risky since he's so ball dominant and unable to be in a system.

Melo just stops the ball too much.
