Wtf are u talking about

I swear I got to leave y’all mental illness dudes alone lol
Jay wasted a lot of his artistic potential to double his dollars. That's all there is to it. The discography is average and many people are seeing it now.

Dude has at least 2 undeniable classic albums (4 in my opinion) in a field where the majority has none, yet somehow that equals an average discography. You cats don’t even bother with logic.

4 :comeon: Something rubbed me the wrong way when he jumped on that Big Daddy Kane joint kicking the Fu-Schnickens flow. All of his great albums had even better contemporaries. Show me a Jay-Z album that is essential to how hip hop sounds today and I'll leave it alone. Arguably his biggest innovation was dikkriding UGK.

I don't think you can name a legendary rapper that doesn't have dikk riders. It comes with the territory

Every high-level rapper have stans. But the people I have listed are high profile industry cats and they put a lot of efforts to creates a lot of narratives in favor of Jay. If you listen to Clark Kent, Jay been better than biggie from day one. Elliott Wilson went on trashing iww and biggin up Jay and put him in competion with Nas at a time when Jay wasn't even in the conversation.

I mean I get it for bleek, but when he went on to say that Nas can't compete with Hov on a versuz stage that's beyond stannery at this point. He could have say "nas and jay would be tough but my man Jay will win that " but no they had to add some kind of disrespect. They are insufferable when it comes to their Jay stannery

Essential to how hip hop sounds today? That would eliminate most of the albums deemed classic from the past. Of course it only applies to Jay-Z in your mind though because you have to hold on to your disdain for dude by any means necessary.

Nas got three of those

Illmatic - dont need to explain
It was written - re introduced rappers singing on chorus, created a shift between underground and mainstream, first n1 hip hop east coast album by a black artist
Life Is good - created a successful Blueprint for older rapper

Because of all the Nas’ dikkriders living in 2001.

Hov is human just like any other rapper. The reasons people are listing in this thread could be said for a lot of rappers.

Here we get to the root of your problem with dude. You’re one of those who can’t like both because of a beef that is far behind both artists.

As for the albums listed, although I absolutely love 2 of them, none of them fit the criteria you created for Jay-Z’s albums to be considered classic, as none of them are essential to how hip hop sounds today, which are your words.

I didn't give any criteria. And I didn't say I don't like Jay Z. I just gave a list of nas' albums that created a change on hip hop or add something new. And jay got none of those. That don't mean Jay don't have classics. To me Jay got two: rd and Blueprint. Nas got three : illmatic iww and stillmatic. Kd3 could be one. And they got a lot of fans favourites and great albums

It's just that overall nas got a better discography that's all :manny:
