"I'm Not Black, I'm Dominican!"

:russ: Is that really a quote from that dude? He's darker than me and I'm pretty dark myself.

So you're just gonna dig for an ignorant quote by an ignorant person huh? So what about those jamaicans that claim they arent black?

I'm never heard a Jamaican deny they were black. What I tend to hear from them is "I'm Jamaican, not African-American".

i dont think most nikkas take in account that south america had slaves in the first place.
Of course they did.

Brazil has a higher population of Black people than any other country in the Western Hemisphere.

Too bad that when people think of Brazilians, they don't think of Black people.

That's weird because i hear them all the time. Some of them my friends.

They say "i'm not black. I'm jamaican" as if to say "i'm not black american". Which is what i think Big Papi meant when he said that. This became clear to me once when i was talking to this black american girls and she said "but that dont apply to you because you're not black. Aren't you from a different country?"

See, many black americans are referring to themselves and themselves ONLY when they utter the word "black". They take it as if they, and only THEY are the ONLY blacks and that others are just mere wannabes who share the skin color.

And by the way Haiti was a spanish and then french colony but in no way were we ever french. Jamaicans were at some point British citizens because after slavery was abolished the blacks slaves were integrated into the British Colony population. Haitians went from slave to Haitian because we became independent before slavery ended. Thus why we are different then Martinique and Guadeloupe who's black population became french citizens once slavery was abolished.

Know your caribbean history, brethren.

Of course they did.

Brazil has a higher population of Black people than any other country in the Western Hemisphere.

Too bad that when people think of Brazilians, they don't think of Black people.

That is because they are not featured in their mainstream and in their politics. They created over a dozen racial categories that were really done to break the thought of a black identity. These characteristics range from hair type and skin tone... it's a classic divide and conquer strategy. They are just now gaining a black consciousness there.

I'm pretty new to these forum but lurk sometimes, and it seems are large part of yall are african americans.

How do yall feel about latinos who clearly have black in them saying they are just black?
Reason I ask is just cause I'm half latino but my latino side is black, if you didn't speak to my pops and heard his strong accent you'd think he was a black man not from latin america.

I always consider myself latino and most people just assume I am but I still know I have black in me and when I tell people I have black in me they're like ' :beli:, you aint black you're latino' , yea that's true but also my ancestors were slaves in south america .. I just don't like to deny what I am

Anyways, how yall feel about this ?

you black breh, just with a different culture from us Americans :salute:

Afro latinos are far too c00nish for my liking. Sometimes I think of all the black people in the diaspora, African-Americans are probably the only ones to openly defy the western concept of beauty and truly love themselves. The others have been thoroughly brainwashed.

Just look at what theyve done to our brothers in the dominican republic? They'd rather accept they are related to rats than africans :scusthov:
:what:

Stop it.

So you're just gonna dig for an ignorant quote by an ignorant person huh? So what about those jamaicans that claim they arent black?
They mean they aren't "african-american"

Go to Jamaica and not one black Jamaican will say they aren't black.

Some people are just plain dumb. How does one not know how to distinguish between race and nationality?
