Either you asked her to hook you up (which you should never do by the way) or you're just radiating lack of buns to the extent that she feels like she has to solve your problem.
Don't put women in situations where they feel like they have to solve your dating problems because then you become a problem for them and they treat you like a charity case which is why you end up with the charity cases. Their friend who's been single the longest, the friend who's been hurt the most yada yada. Beyond finding chicks who are cool enough that you can enjoy their company, the female friend is for introductions and nothing else.
The point is that women know other women whether it's women who live near them, their classmates/colleagues, their friends, people they meet and become acquainted with at places like the gym and being around them means that you can meet various women in social settings where there's no tension and you can then take your pick of the single women she knows. You're still putting yourself on versus getting someone picked for you.
Plus you don't tell your female friends up front that you're going to talk to their friends because that's when they meddle in shyt. You have them find out after the fact because that's when their innercomes out and then you'll get the truth.
@JadeB is bereft of confidence (and experience) so him just cold approaching random chicks is a recipe for disaster. That's where the friend comes in because now he's meeting women in social settings where he's already comfortable, you can build up your confidence through repeated interactions and then you can go from there. Having other women around disarms everyone.

i used to be intentionally reserved and not feel like chatting much, but then i chose a career where i have to present and communicate well.
now i can hold a conversation with anybody.
try to get a job where there is more communication than "here is your food, thank you", that way you can practice communicating with strangers. if not even a hobby like toastmasters
then once you get around women, treat them like a regular person rather than someone you want to have sex with that way there is no pressure on what you need to say.
hopefully a nice conversation will parlay into more, but that depends on factors other than a mouthpiece
