Again, idk if its true or not but its more a greater indictment on how the New Deal generation died and brought in the Reagan Revolution, which we are nearing the end. Every pres since Reagan has been under his terms, including Clinton and Obama.

He wasn't even close to being considered a "liberal" or even "moderate" Republican back then. I already listed some Republicans who were considered to be liberal/moderate in the 1950s-1980s.

Breh, you're killing your whole argument. Our entire point is that both the Republican and Democratic parties have lurched way to the right. You stating that Nixon wasn't a liberal/moderate in his day just proves how far we've moved. Imagine someone pushing hard and successfully institute Affirmative Action for the first time, doing a secret push to desegregate the South, founding the EPA, signing the Clean Water Bill, signing the Endangered Species Act, founding OSHA, starting up SSI, instituting wage and price controls to attempt to settle the economy, keeping high taxes on the rich, and starting up relations with China and yet NOT be considered even a moderate. Like I pointed out, Obama barely has any liberal cred compared to that at all. Your only argument for Obama being liberal is that he voted with the Democrats. But all that proves is that the whole party moved.

And it's not true that Nixon wasn't considered a moderate back then. He was considered the moderate choice between the liberal and conservative wings of the Repulican party. In 1960 and 1964 he was the moderate alternative to Barry Goldwater, in 1968 he was the moderate alternative to Ronald Reagan. The "liberal" wing of the Republican party no longer exists, and the "conservative" wing of the Republican party now controls the entire party with no liberal alternative at all.

lso, remember that government spending wasn't as heavily scrutinized by Republicans until Reagan in the '80s. Nixon supporting some government programs doesn't mean he was "more liberal" than Obama or whatever else some of you are saying.

Again, you are KILLING your own argument. You're pointing out that back then, neither Nixon nor anyone else did do this big conservative thing that every president (including Clinton and Obama) does now. By your own argument, they're all lurched to the right.
