how important is antivirus software today if you are a savvy internet user?

Remember when malwarebytes was free. Now these motherfukkers wanna charge a subscription. fukk that 
it's a fukking scam. my mom just got a new laptop and had it put on. 
unless u downloading stuff off shady ass websites or visiting them you're fine. get a decent malware thing to clean you out every couple months (which you can get for free) and you'll be fine.

Been on a Macbook since 06-07, no viruses or malware yet, no extra software
Any free decent anti virus software is all you need, but if your prett savy or visit the same sites over and over your pretty much ok, unless something big starts going around.
I wasn't really using one when I was still on PC cause like you said, if you're a savvy user you know the dos and donts. On Mac now and I ain't got no worries

I just ordered a new ThinkPad. What kind of antivirus should i use? I aint tryna pay either.
I use Avast
Lol I haven't had a virus or anything strange going on in years. If you know what the fukk you're doing your PC should be running spotless.

Not really a problem if you use/create system restore points weekly. Adblocker is the true savior here. But if you really need protection webroot can be stolen and or bought for cheap.
