How does Nas have a greater catalog? Illmatic and arguably It Was Written are better than any Pac album.

More examples of Nas' lyricism.
Through the lights cameras and action, glamour glitters and gold
I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe
When I'm deceased, by then the beast arise like yeast
to conquer peace leaving savages to roam in the streets
Live on the run, police paying me to give in my gun
Trick my Wisdom, with the system that imprisoned my son
Smoke a gold leaf I hold heat, nonchalantly
I'm grungy, but things I do is real it never haunts me
while, funny style nikkaz roll in the pile
Rooster heads profile on a bus to Riker's Isle
Holdin weed inside they p*ssy with they minds on the
pretty things in life, props is a true thug's wife
It's like a cycle, nikkaz come home, some'll go in
Do a bullet, come back, do the same shyt again
From the womb to the tomb, presume the unpredictable
Guns salute life, rapidly, that's the ritual

A drug dealer's dream
Stash cream keys on a triple beam
Five hundred SL green, ninety-five nickle gleam
Condominium, thug dressed like a gentleman
Tailor made ostrich, Chanel for my women friend
Murderin, numbers on your head while I'm burglarin
Shank is servin em, whassup to all my nikkaz swervin in
New York metropolis, the Bridge brings apocalypse
Shoot at the clouds feels like, the holy beast is watchin us
Mad man my sanity is goin like an hourglass
Gun inside my bad hand I sliced tryin to bag grams
I got hoes that used to milk you
nikkaz who could've killed you
Is down with my ill crew of psychoes
Nas Escobar movin on your weak production
Pumpin corruption in the third world we just bustin

nikkas think bullshyt like brenda got a baby was profound and deep :pachaha:

Nas spit a song backwards and another song from the perspective of a gun.Pac can't hold a candle to the god mc.:salute: to nas 20 + in the game a living legend who didn't have to die like pac to be called a Goat

"Fukk jay-z he's broke and I smoke daily" -Tupac

^This is whom you place your faith? Wit basic ass bars like this b? :laff:

Find the post where I said Pac was a dope lyricist...

but what I did say is that no matter what Pac lyric you pull up, even "life as a big mac..." you wont find anything worse than "nacho cheese, I'm Castro"

Illmatic and It Was Written are classics, Life is Good was Grammy worthy. Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes and I Am are solid 4/5 albums. All of Nas albums have gone gold or platinum. Illmatic is definitely better than any Pac album, and It Was Written is arguably better I may be tempted to put 7 Day Theory in front of it.

Don't bring Jay into this. Nas classics are better than his easily.

:russ: Don't forget about the dozen of songs where Pac rhymed "Hennesy and Enemies" and "Crack sales and black males".

Are you the same God Shamgod as the one on Hoops Nation? Not only do you both combat the idea of Tupac being GOAT but you also have the same screen names.

To simply put,
I can listen to a NaS song,
And call him the GOAT,
I can listen to any 2Pac song,
And call him the GOAT.

Though intilectual recipricol clearly understates Nas' skills intentionally, the thread does have a point that when asked to post Nas verses that Pac couldn't see lyrically, there turns out to be very little difference between the two. Nas just has more of a machine gun flow which makes his bars sound more dense with rhymes. But when you take meaningful Nas verses where he's not just spitting braggadocio rhymes, it's clear that the difference in rhyming skills between Nas and Pac is greatly exaggerated.

The Verbal Intercourse verse is a great example. Nas' flow makes that verse sound more lyrical than it actually is. It's not even really one of Nas' more lyrical verses in terms of rhyming. Pac has plenty of verses that can easily match it, take his verses from This Ain't Livin' for example.

Who killed it is more complex than pacs whole career interms of allegory and metaphors. Far better story teller. More diverse content. shyt, the stillmatic freestyle kills pac lyrically.

I never thought he was "better" than Nas at rapping....

I just thought his rhymes and style had more appeal to it....

I thought it was dope how he could drop "Brenda had a baby" and then come with "I get around" type joint....

Seemed like he got better with each album he dropped..... Nas peaked early and then kinda faded to the background until Stillmatic dropped.

I will openly admit that Nas is better lyricist than Pac...

But Pac songs used to make me feel a certain kind of way and feel what he was saying and I can't say I really got that from Nas...

does this record not evoke a "feeling" in you?

what about the Energy conveyed in this record?

We criticize nas for falling off relevance/creatively wise for a couple albums but ignore the fact that pacs 1st album came out in 91 and he didn't peak until 96. nikkas love to act like the positive shyt was relevant for pac but it wasn't till after the controversy, the shooting , the "west side riding", the red rags and the "thug life", that pac really gained a large following.

Nas dropped a classic, 1st album, no controversy, and it was critically acclaimed. Pure talent.

Nas relies too much on gimmicks with his concepts. It's easy to come up with an original concept for a song. Executing it well is another thing though. Pac clearly outdid I Gave You Power when he did Me & My Girlfriend. Pac was a much better songwriter. Nas would tell you himself.
