right, and nothing Nas did could send Jay on a downward spiral, thus rendering his diss ineffective.

It's not like Jay ruined Nas either, but what he said was totally true. Nas has been on a very average path since Illmatic (well IWW really).

it wasn't ineffective, as jay shut down on the radio.

jay's 2 most "effective" disses to nas and mobb were an opinion(1 hot album) and a lie (prodigy when he was 10 in a mike jack constume, not in 88). then jay fans say "facts and truth" or are cool with jay making fun of p for being small but don't like when nas say's jay looks like a camel.

So so much, on so many levels. Jay fans love to focus on the schoolyard shyt and ignore the real gut punches in there. There's a reason Jay cried on the radio.

What u think u gettin girls now cuz of your looks? Negro please, u no mustache having, with whiskers like a rat, compared to beans u wack. AND YOUR MAN STABBED UN AND MADE YOU TAKE THE BLAME.

is that really true about the crying? you got a link? a vid or audio?

It's true. He sounded like his mom died. I dunno how you never heard that.

That's what completely shifted the focus to Nas. People were kinda siding with Nas due to "Ether", and the radio poll of "Supa Ugly", but Jay going on the radio sounding completely deflated removed all doubt as to who won. And I actually like "Take Over" more....but if Jay don't even believe he won, why would I give him the W?

I don't mean to shift the focus to Nas vs Jay but Rocafella dropped the ball several times during and after that beef. It makes it virtually impossible to say Jay won. I mean....Bleek talking about "I knew Nas had got us"....Dame talking about "he handed us an L"....it's not a good look.

Memphis Bleek: [Laughs] It was a gloomy day, for real. When [Funkmaster] Flex played it, I ain’t going to lie, I admitted to myself and had to tell the big homey he got us, he got one up on us. That shyt was cooked crack cocaine right there. Like it was no denying that record was hot as shyt, it was a bunch of lies on that record, but it was still a hot record. One that is going down in history, you know what I mean. We were at Baseline Studios listening to the radio when we first heard it. Jay and everybody was saying this shyt’s hot.

Ether really might be the greatest diss ever. He threw the kitchen sink at Jay-Z, hit him on every level. Killed him with his own phrase (I will not lose), belittled him as a man, an artist and a businessman.

Jay went onto greater continued success but song for song he never hit Nas as hard as he got hit with Ether.

Yeah the issue is I wasn't there around the time of the beef (well I wasn't following it) so I don't know all the outside stuff that kinda rounds the whole thing off. I'm paying more attention to the actual diss tracks.

Takeover after all was only 1 verse dedicated to Nas, Nas had a whole song in response to that verse. I felt Jay's stuff was more accurate but idk, that's why I gave him the edge, and of course the long-term aftermath of it all, Jay's sitting prettier than Nas.

But this opened my eyes to a whole other perspective tbh.

Didn't Pac do ballet as well?
Prodigy never did ballet as far as I know. The photograph was him in a Michael Jackson outfit as a kid.

Jay said it was a ballerina and everyone just went with it although it was clearly a lie :mjlol:
There was this though...

Three kids clearly not comfortable with what they are wearing...homey on the right feels right at home though :mjlol:

What gave u this impression? Do u really think nas only had 1 hot album up to that point? Or that Chris and Neef were running rap? Or that The World is yours wasn't just as hot a song as dead presidents?

Ether had just as much "facts" as takeover, and the actual facts it did have cut way deeper. The only real dart that way jay had was Carmen and he didn't come out and use it fully on takeover.

Jay thought nas was done after nastradamus, and was proven to be very very wrong. Exposed as the one who wanted to work with Nas and kept getting snubbed, coming up off foxy before he could stand on his own in the game, called out for everything from Hawaiian Sophie to using big's rhymes to make himself look bigger, and got straight clowned until he cried and even his own crew had to admit he got got.
