Never good to lie about job titles you never held as the reference wont match what you sold them on your resume and good lead to them terminating the contract but amping up the duties/achivements part of the role on the resume is damn near essential if you need to get your foot in the door.

Man I have the blackest name ever, of course I am lying :francis:. These people want to much for a basic job.
Nothing to big though, maybe a 1-2 month increase in experience or putting down basic skills that I can learn pretty fast.

I would not lie saying I have a degree or certs when I don't have one though lol, that is too much.

Since I'm in college I actually put down the degree I am shooting for and put "-In Progress" next to it :obama:
I do the same thing :smugfavre:

No, but I don't recommend it in the internet age. It's nothing for these companies to pull that information.
I have NEVER lied about it and NEVER will lie about my degree but I was just wonder how do they check that info? I always wanted to know, do they call the school?

I'd assume so. The company that hired me used a 3rd party for background checks and probably the main thing that was mentioned to me after everything cleared was that my degree was verified to have been awarded. So I guess they get in touch with your school's registrar.

There's a difference between lying and embellishing. Depending on where you work, the background checks are incredibly thorough. Why get caught in a lie that you can't get out of? It's one thing to say you built a webpage in using HTML and CSS elements. It's another to say you built interactive experiences from the ground up and were a lead developer.

Lying on your resume? If you need to lie, clearly you aren't qualified to apply for that job in the first place.

I'm in IT so I must LIE, mainly on the company name and dates, example

1.I usually put the fortune 500 company name that I was contracted to instead of the stupid temp service name.
2. sometimes people most cover there job gaps, because employers will not hire you with job gaps or being employed

That's not really lying though, I normally put the company name and then put (via ___) right next to it
