Again… why did you volunteer yourself if you know nothing about owning a dog?
Did she give you puppy pads or something to lay down in your house so it can pee piss or shyt on?
Dogs in new locations will look for a quiet place to do their business. Dogs don’t shyt or piss in their crates/bed. If the dog isn’t trained to let you know it needs to go outside to piss/shyt, it will do it in the house. You watch them and when you see them about to do it, you MOVE them to the pads so that way they will know thats where they’re supposed to do their business in the house.
Shedding happens especially depending on the dog. If you not cool with that, your sister should’ve provided you a brush to brush them and get most of the shedding hairs.
If you don’t see or hear them then just know they’re probably doing something they’re not supposed to do. Just call them.. I just snap my fingers and they come running.

We had a dog growing up but he was an outside dawg. 95% of the time he was outside unless it was bad weather. I like dogs, I just could never share a living space with them. He’s house trained too, he hasn’t had any accidents indoors and he’ll usually sit by the door when he has to go

get a breed thats oily so its self cleaning
own a yard so you dont have to walk the dog all day
feed it 1 big meal or 2 medium sized meals
you get used to the barking after about a year... its a good alarm system
people always get the wrong type of dog. Alot of types are more independent and just need you for food and a little attention
mine spends most of its time looking out the window barking at other dogs, or going outside and chasing scents and lounging in the sun
protip... buy a cam off amazon and plug it in outside. Then you can put the dog out and know when it wants to come back inside, without constantly checking
doing that got sketchy people away from my house too cause they see the camera and stop fukking around

people buy guard dogs and attack dogs then get dumbfounded when said attack dog attacks people
