There won't be no fire sale this off season, that would mean trading away contracts that come off the books in 2015 anyway and other teams using us as a way to dump salary. The plan was to rebuild through free agency in 2015; it might not have been the best plan, but deviating from it now just leaves the team worse off in the long run. I'm not opposed to a trade if it brings back a star of some sort to help keep Melo here though(probably unlikely), but if that doesn't happen, and Melo leaves, the team just needs to tank next year. Then when 2015 comes around, hope we can land a star that hasn't been turned off by whats happened this season.

If the Knicks hire Phil then I think NY will see better days ahead. If I was running this organization.

Overhaul both coaching staffs(Knicks and your D-League Affiliate). Your new staffs(EVERY COACH) should be very strict and tough disciplinarians that can develop players at the highest level. The reality is that NY is one big distraction, so you need coaches to keep players focused and to regulate when necessary. IMHO, this has been a large part of the reason why the Knicks have been down for long. The mediocre players who don't buy into the system will be weeded out immediately. NY would finally have a system for producing NBA talent instead of relying on landing transcendent players in the draft that may, or more times than not, not pan out.

Make draft signees play for D-League affiliate for a minimum of 2 years. You will have your exceptions with players being NBA-ready coming out of college, however, again more times than not, they aren't. These players will get acclimated to your system and the coaches can fix the deficiencies of each individual player. Let's say that a rookie signs a 5-year deal... that gives you 3 solid years to evaluate a player to see if said player will be successful in a NBA environment after quality professional training in a controlled environment(because college isn't quite doing it anymore). If your development system is as good as it should be then players will hit the ground running by that third year.

As far as Carmelo.... I would say let the chips fall where they may. Melo is a good player but there are too many limitations(mainly his coachability)in his game and not enough time to build a quality team around him that will win a championship before he gets too old, so like I mentioned previously, the Knicks need to rebuild from the ground up. The Knicks shouldn't have to worry about tanking if they make the necessary changes previously stated.

They may not be a championship team in the first few years but I guarantee that they'll be better (ran) than organizations like Milwaukee, Atlanta, Orlando, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Detroit and Philly.

Best case scenario for them would be for Embiid and Parker to stay, then they can have a proper tank next year.

They need to buy some of those 2nd rounders from the Sixers and try to buy their way into the first round this year.
Those buying draft picks days ended with the new CBA. Next year's draft will have some prospects without question.

You act like Atlanta isn't trying to do right. It's hard when no one wants to come and your too good and don't believe in tanking.

Well, I'm sorry you caught feels.... I wasn't trying to take shots at Atlanta directly, however, the truth is that Atlanta is a poorly ran organization... even if they're trying. The fan support is another reflection of that.

So again worry about how to make the Cavs better. No Knicks fans gives a damn about how to fix the Cavs, they're not our problem.

I'm talking about the nba I'd like to know how teams like New York, LA, Utah and Boston would rebuild if fellow posters were the gms...get over yourself.
