At the end of the day I want the top HBCU's to be the beacons and standard to excellence. I think with Howard getting this bad pub some of it has to do with their stellar rep and boastful alumni -even here in LA they have a large presence- Their alumni is quick to throw that Howard Bison shyt up in ya face 24/7/365. They let it be known known known where they went to school at and how they're the cream of the crop. I'm proud and happy for them but those T's need to be crossed and I's dotted. Too much underlying fukkery for what they should be. And you should pull a few milly out from the $714 million endowment so shyt like this doesn't happen leak out to the public.

I've seen alums say "yeah, that's how it was when I was in school x years ago" and my thing is like y'all been living in squalor for decades

Another thing I'm not certain of is how the rules are set for pulling money from an endowment. But then again, Howard gets money from the US government every year, so I'm not sure how things are going w the funding

A school’s endowment isn’t fully unrestricted. The pools of capital many times have very specific use cases or triggers

And from what I can tell the endowment didn’t even increase that much year over year in an environment where some schools had record returns

Not saying it’s acceptable but it’s just not as simple as tapping the endowment

I honestly don’t know what the solution is but I hope the youngins get what they need. Ain’t no way you paying 30k a year to live like that

nikka that's one of our core issues. Since we're all "victims", we're not allowed to publicly self-critique lest the critic be labeled a "c00n". That's how these administrators get away with stealing/mismanaging funds etc. You could give an HBCU 1B dollars; they would have Kanye, Jay-Z, and Beyonce perform at Homecoming, but the rest would 'disappear' by the end of the fiscal year. As desperate as HBCUs seem to be for cash-- I'm shocked I've never heard of any of them investing in crypto.

Slight tangent but Jay Morrison, Kwame Kilpatrick, etc. many of the "Black" people/leaders doing shady, illegal, fraudulent or otherwise substandard shyt & simply failing to render adequate/appropriate services with your money or other resources get away with this a lot. Aww man that's nothing, women are always nasty. Compare that to not having housing at all or even worse, paying for housing you don't get and the school won't give you your money back.

Everyone knows if you create something while at school the school owns it. Our senior design project basically redesigned a warehouse for Office Max free of charge. They straight up told us a consultant would have charged 10s of thousands of dollars. That's why companies be lining up for GT students to do senior design projects there.

This has been an ongoing issue in both PWIs nationwide but particularly with underfunded HBCUs.

And it’s been an issue for decades.

The easiest route is for Howard University to immediately apologize and push to hire a small group of inspectors to rectify the issues. What they’re doing instead, doubling down on the issues, is only going to prolong things through the school year. I remember they had a similar protest there in 2013 that got some minor coverage.


This is a bad look and the university leadership is really showing their ass, which has been another thing typical of university administration for decades.

Because it’s an unbelievably bad idea for an institution to put substantial capital into cryptocurrency - it’s volatile and at the whims of its major investors.
