also parents love to think about it from their perspective which i get is the easiest thing to do, and be on some "i don't regret it" vibe (i mean what else CAN you say and not get judged). but as someone who is only a child and not a parent, i still think of it from the child side. i can't count how many times i been hanging out with my dad and think to myself "i didn't ask to be here"

but it is what it is.

Good question. People really talk about kids like it's just something to do



When I got my bachelor's degree, my niece almost threw up on the graduation gown. I recoiled from her like she was poison.

My sister got so mad at me. I told her I'm not spending my day smelling like puke and you can't afford to get this dry cleaned.

I knew then I could never be me. Fast forward, she's still broke and my niece is grown and a male abuser.

Yeah it's really one of those things where you just won't know what you're missing. And that's 100% fine.

Hell I was 100% sure I didn't want kids either, then I got (un)lucky and had a baby at 45. Breh I was so pissed.

But it turns out all that dumb shyt that parents say... all those platitudes... they're all true. Being a parent is fukking awesome... word to god I never thought I would type that sentence.

But still, if I had never had my son, that would have also been 100% ok, because I wouldn't have known what I was missing. I was on track to retire at 53. Now, lol... nope.

I know a couple who went through that. It was a rough, desperate time for them. Scrambling to get some nut from just about any man. But a few years after that once they hit like mid to late 40's, I have found them to be at peace since the questions about "when are you having kids" will have mostly died down. They tend to feel re-invigorated with life once they realize they get to do whatever they want and can mostly afford to do so now.
