So much screen real estate
retina_imac.jpg

The resolution :blessed:
The speed :blessed:
The fusion drive :blessed:

Why would anyone waste money on a PC when this glorious piece of technology is out there

my boy got one, and his has everything EXCEPT the 5K. that retina on the 27" in screen is :mjcry: worthy.

no doubt, but when you have resolution that good, you can have like a million windows each with plenty of room to operate. plus on el capitan, you can do the split screen viewing as well.
I can do the same on a 1080p display @ 27", and it may be faster at 1080p because my GPU doesn't have to render twice as many pixels

Screen resolution =/= screen size or room to "play with"

the increased pixel density doesn't magically make the screen bigger though. that's why I think 2 monitors is better if you need more workspace

I think it does. I use my 13" retina MBP and remote into my work laptop, and with the increased resolution on a smaller screen, I have no problem having enough real estate. Mind you, my work laptop has a docking station and 2 27" monitors hooked up to it if I wanna actually use that.

I understand that you can fit more stuff on the screen, but it's gonna be small

I

I think most people that need more workspace just get 2+ monitors
I actually have my old 22" monitor hooked up to it for even more things on screen.

For example...

I can have ableton or protools on the main screen with a mixer strip plus space for some plug in windows
and still have Maschine or traktor up on my spare screen.

no more having to scroll around or flip through many windows

Recording studio. For basic studio work it's fine but for running a bunch of shyt at the same time. shyt ain't really powerful enough. And essentially u got cats u run 3 monitors in conjunction which is WAY more real estate than one 5K monitor. And cost less money to do if ur PC can handle it.
Trust me its MORE than powerful enough to run 99% of all studio work.

Most of my time is spent in the studio engineering/mixing/and mastering.

My old macbook was having a hard time with lagging on some bigger projects, sometimes spiking the cpu up to 120% and more
I opened the SAME project (probably close to 40 tracks with most tracks having some kind of plugin or effect on it. PLUS VST instruments and it was sitting around 10-15% no lie.

5K would be like running multiple HD displays on one screen(the amount of real estate you can have on one screen)

your typical HD resolution is 1920x1080
this has 5,120 by 2,880
