IT seems like its to brag on the coli. I'm certain whatever music he's "creating" he hasn't seen a dime from it, hence the reason he is "financing" this "amazing" computer he just purchased.
I'll admit this is more of a luxury than I needed. But I was looking for a new desktop anyway. So when I saw that I could get this on a cheap payment plan through work and not have to pay extra (no fees or interest) then why not.

Plus I'm not creating music as much as I'm actually doing engineering and recording other ppl and mixing/mastering their shyt.
so I've mad more than enough to pay for this.

Plus I get paid $350 a night to DJ...I'm not to worried about money I invest in music I make it all back

I can do the same on a 1080p display @ 27", and it may be faster at 1080p because my GPU doesn't have to render twice as many pixels

Screen resolution =/= screen size or room to "play with"
actually it DOES give you more room to play with.

And you not even in design? or photography? whats the need for 5k?
a 27"iMac starts at like 1799 and the 5k retina starts at 1999 so for only a few hundred dollars more I opted for the better machine.

the extra resolution and quality was worth the $200 to me.

5k on a AMD mobile chip:mjlol:
You like to keep reminding us don't you?

:mjcryuk:

As far as the iMac is concerned. I was really considering one before, but I prefer multiple screens over a single screen at a high resolution when it comes to work.

Usually in a 3 monitor setup I like to have the main content in the middle and when I ever decide to run a game push the windows to the side monitors and game exclusively in the middle monitor.

I did actually do some 4k video editing. What I do like about the screen is that I can see the full 4K video in AP and have all the toolbars and timeline still

I feel you. thats why I hooked up my 22" as well.
The screen resolution is great though, plus the extra monitor....I can tell my workflow is already increasing

Payment Plans on computers tho????? :scust:

Let me give you a quick lesson on money management.

You can go take $2500 and go buy a computer right now...and that would be that.

or you can take $2500 and invest it while only paying a small monthly payment and actually get a better return for your money.

right now this costs me ZERO interest while in return I can MAKE interest on my $2500 investment.

Kind of the same reason rich ppl still have mortgages rather than outright buying those Million dollar homes.

because mortgage rates are LOW. so investing a million dollars or so and getting even 5% interest while only paying 2-3% on a mortgage is smart money.

But I don't need to explain finances on the coli....too many experts on here

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Trust me its MORE than powerful enough to run 99% of all studio work.

Most of my time is spent in the studio engineering/mixing/and mastering.

My old macbook was having a hard time with lagging on some bigger projects, sometimes spiking the cpu up to 120% and more
I opened the SAME project (probably close to 40 tracks with most tracks having some kind of plugin or effect on it. PLUS VST instruments and it was sitting around 10-15% no lie.

5K would be like running multiple HD displays on one screen(the amount of real estate you can have on one screen)

your typical HD resolution is 1920x1080
this has 5,120 by 2,880
I mean I'm glad it works out for u fam. I just can't see myself spending that on anything Mac related that isn't a laptop. I can't have apple products as a desktop setup. Especially knowing what I can get for the money. Plus I would rather a multi screen setup.

Why would anyone waste money on a PC when this glorious piece of technology is out there

better compatibility
better upgrade options
build to spec
play next gen games
future proof due to not being made into a screen
more open than OSX

better compatibility with what? All my apps and shyt work
better upgrade options meh
build to spec meh
play next gen games I own a ps4 and an Xbox one, pc gaming is not my thing
future proof due to not being made into a screen all macs that I have owned and most ppl have usually are working for 4-5 years. A few years longer than most pcs do. Plus mac resale value is way better
more open than OSX more open? Why does it need to be open?
Listen, I ain't trying to change anyone's minds here, but I bought and have owned macs for about ten years. And they just work for what I do. I don't need to play with all types of tweaks and minor upgrades and blah blah blah. I want something reliable that works and does what I need when I turn it on without having to constantly maintain or tweak shyt all the time.

lol at thinking a new motherboard, cpu, graphic card, hard drive and ram, etc. is an upgrade

That's basically buying a whole new computer bruh.

And yeah...I know plenty, I used to build pcs all the time, for fun and for work.

If it's your job or even your hobby, then keep doing what you are doing. But for everyone else, no one wants to spend all that extra time and effort on keeping up a computer rather than actually working on it.
