Shut up. They came into the playoffs in disarray and the Drexler trade looked like a bust until they got into the playoffs. Your VHS cassettes and datamining has no recollection of it
exactly, which is why i posted the article because that is in the moment

Trading For Drexler May Have Hurt Rockets
Inside the NBA
February 19, 1995|By Tim Povtak of The Sentinel Staff
The Houston Rockets defending NBA champions - were thrilled to reunite star center Hakeem Olajuwon with star guard Clyde Drexler, his former college teammate.

And so are the rest of the title contenders.

The trade earlier this week that brought Drexler to Houston and sent power forward Otis Thorpe to Portland may have weakened the Rockets - unless they can make another trade this week to produce a quality frontcourt player.

'Personality-wise, it's a big change for Houston. I know Thorpe gave us problems,'' Seattle coach George Karl said. ''Rudy (Tomjanovich) always had the luxury of having two guys who could cover (Seattle's) Shawn (Kemp). When Hakeem was in foul trouble, or they wanted him free as a shot-blocker, they had Thorpe. I don't know if they have that matchup now.''

Although Thorpe was not considered one of the league's elite players - he made the All-Star team only once in his 10-year career - his rebounding, defense and shot-blocking were key in Houston's championship run last season.

Now the Rockets will be using Pete Chilcutt and Carl Herrera at that position. Neither is anywhere near the player or inside presence that Thorpe was.

''It looks good to us,'' Phoenix guard Dan Majerle said. ''You never know, of course. But I was kind of glad it happened, because Otis always gave us a lot of problems, with his rebounding, scoring and defense. Now, I just know if Hakeem gets in foul trouble, it'll be another guy who is out, and the big forwards and small forwards will have trouble guarding Charles (Barkley).''

but hakeem never had help. The league was scared of otis thorpe in 95 lol.

:dahell:

do you even know what i'm responding to? seriously

gizzle stated in his initial post the rockets "were under .500 until they got drexler". How in thee fukk is a team 30-17 under .500 until the trade. It wasn't until AFTER THE TRADE where they struggled finishing less then .500 down the stretch before finding themselves in the playoffs. Your making my point for me

I'm talking about physical prime. Because you can move goalposts all over the place to decide when someone is 'in their prime' to be convenient for you discussion. Which you are notorious at...and attempted to do so here.

no one with common sense would ever say a player is in his prime in his 3rd season. I'm using common sense here. but this is your thread so carry on

yep, that Bulls team NEEDED Rodman to get out of the east

Shaq and Penny were serious that year.....til they ran into Hakeem

They needed Rodman ANDDDDDD Jordan to have a full training camp under his belt and get back into basketball shape.

Jordan wasn't himself (regardless of stats) against orlando. Game 1 he had 8 turnovers (career high) and including an infamous strip of nick anderson in the game.

Game 6 the bulls were up 6 with about 3 minutes left and Jordan couldn't close the deal. They got outscored 14-0 and carried ho grant off the floor :mjcry:
