Fair enough. I might have said as much in the past, actually. We still bear some responsibility for letting a fukkboy like Ebro hijack our gates tho. And NY OGs like Jay and Nas dont put on for NYC either.
but the artists can only do so much. To say Jay and Nas don't put on for NYC just ain't true IMO.

There are tons of young dudes trying to mush their way in, but you can't do that with stodgy old dudes.

We're talking about radio though.

You're trying to defend something I'm not even talking about.

Radio DOES matter.
No We are talking about why it fell off. what i'm saying is that NY was turn off a type of music b/c they told them it was corny. The South have never had that problem that's why you see dudes like Rich Homie, Future, Young Thug, , KRIT, Guwop & em get hot.

lemme ask you this though: Name me a couple of good young NY rappers 26 and under right now? what are they talking about?

I'm not gonna speak like I know shyt, but do these other area have the same kind of restrictions/industry influence like NY? I know growin up, Hot 97 and Power 105 were some of the hold out, uncensored stations, but that all changed a few years back.

Take a step back and consider NY is a media hub and under a lot more scrutiny/restrictions than some of the areas yall are talking about.

Again, I don't know shyt about down south/ out west, but here radio in general really got clamped down on while I was growing up and I'm only 25 :yeshrug:

1. Theres are tons of NYC artists who deserve more play. Ain't no point in listing them
2. Who cares what they're talking about. They're new. Thats all that matters.

The current gate keepers are the same ones that were there when these same artists were out.

They haven't even changed, so of course they're gonna amp up what they're accustomed to.

I'm sorry. I forgot Big and PAC were still here :stopitslime:

Its time for her and those LIKE her to ride out into the sunset. Thanks for the memories...but you gotta go.

In other cities, she'd LONG be gone. Definitely ATL she'd be out of that studio.

Don't rattle me with "culture" talk.

Culture evolves and in order to do so, it must be represented by those who are at the forefront of that culture.

When is she going to retire? She can't be 45 talkin' about new 18 year old artists she supposed "LOVES"

No one is buying that siht.
no disrespect you aint even hip hop breh....nikkas like you listening to rap and thinking your opinion holds weight in the actual culture of hip hop is the bigger problem ...

No one is out here break dancing and doing graffiti :heh:

Fact of the matter is that these dudes complaining about why shyt ain't going well in NYC need to look in the mirror and realize its them.

What do you expect them to do?

Put Flatbush Zombies, Ka, Roc Marciano and Ratking features on their records?

New York coming back is just a cliche talking point, like saying Nas lost, or whatever

Roc Marci, Ka, Exquire, Ratking, Action Bronson, French Montana, Chinx, A$AP, Troy Ave, Joey Bada$$, Worlds Fair, Bodega Bamz, Flatbush Zombies, Da$h & Retch even Nicki

Thats a diverse array of people from radio stars to underground artists. Lets keep it one hundred, if you honestly can't find one artist out of this list that you enjoy then I gotta wonder if it's not that you want NY to make good music but you just want to go back to the feeling you felt in the good o'l days

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
:comeon:For the 100th time....

New York hip hop is in the state its in because other regions (especially the south) evolved and became staples in the game. They created their own sound and brought more variety to the game. Their current fan bases have a LOCAL musical foundation. Once the south/Midwest/west coast became nationally accepted it was a wrap for NY. It's just more variety now and people have different tastes. In the 80's and early 90's all you had music wise was what was coming out of New York. In order to blow up you had to be accepted in New York. That ship sailed long ago.

Honestly I was stuck on the boom bap era until 2001 2002.
