Another wild overrated niglet who don’t write his rhymes saluting the current champ of that, ya love to see it, 🫡
If I'm not mistaken Snoop was looking out for people like D.O.C. & up-and-comers by having them write for him. His way of looking out for his homie & giving back by letting newcomers get their foot in the door. I could be wrong but I have a feeling I'm not.

Drake being around long was a result of timing. If he came out in an era of more competitive skill based rappers he would have ran his course by now. Dudes are winning by default because of how bad the competition is that is visible on a mainstream level.

Not even competitiveness.......it's stagnancy.

If you look at the 80s and 90s, the sound changed up so much that even the greatest had trouble keeping up. You could be blazing hot in 92 and by 96 be old news.

Yall have to learn to differentiate between lyricist/emcee and rap/hip-hop artist. Drake & Snoop are in the latter category, and their is nothing wrong with that.
I know what you intend to mean and I just want you to convey your message better.

first, a ”lyricist“ …. Is someone who writes lyrics

Second; Why don’t you learn tomore consistently differentiate between there and their and then we‘ll talk :sas1:

I can see Drake popping in the early 90s on some new jack swing inflicted shyt like Heavy D and then around 97 wearing shiny suits when Bad Boy were on top.

Doc was the main writer for Dre and Eazy during their NWA years (along with Cube)…continued penning for Dre on the Chronic…and had his own platinum selling star turning solo album before his career was derailed due his accident…all before Snoop’s first album…however you want to frame his work writing for Snoop on Doggystyle, it definitely wasn’t Snoop “looking out”” for Doc who was a veteran with all kind of accolades, when snoop was still a pup in the game

Now snoop did position BadAzz and whoever whoever else was writing for him after DOC as some “I’m just giving the lil homies a chance” type shyt…but :mjlol: , yeah aiight…take that as you will

Honestly don’t even know … I know he’d had a host of people write for him between then and Doggystyle…wouldn’t shock me if he double backed to work with him again…just would be hard to look at linking back up with the dude that helped you with your first and most successful album as purely looking out

You’re probably right…in this clip he mentions “up until doggystyle…and some stuff after that”….and mentioned specifically That’s That shyt which was on Blue Carpet…my favorite tracks on Doggystyle you can kinda tell Snoop was just spitting off the top, and DOC is saying he was mainly helping him with structured songs
