Sean was nice. Still nice but the FF mixtape run was some of his best work. Detroit was good too.

You fell out of the convo. Nothing wrong with that. Enjoy your life and success.

In a perfect world all my mixtape faves would still be on top. Wale, cudi, Sean, Krit, XV etc
Why didnt XV pop?

Thats why it takes more than just a hot start to run an era. Nobody’s denying Nicki is popular or one of the most successful of her era, she just never reached big 3 status or anywhere near it because by the time Cole and Kendrick took off they left everyone besides Drake in the dust. By 2016 Cole was moving damn near 500K first week on an album that had NO features whatsoever or additional help. A year later Kendrick was moving 600k first week on an album that had no other rap features with a bonafide rap song hitting number 1 (no sung hooks, no catchy beat) Hell by 2016 Kendrick was doing Nicki numbers on a Lost Tapes style compilation album that had no singles, videos, or hype whatsoever outside of simple demand for more music.
Nicki has outsold Cole bro. I'm confused in what ur trying to say here. Cole doesn't and hasn't sold more records than Nicki Minaj. To say he "dusted" her in any kind of way is laughable. And the Lil Kim metric doesn't count because she sold nowhere near cats like Jay, Biggie etc etc. That's not the case for Nicki. And also Future. This whole "Big 3" conversation is kinda forced because there really has been 5 artists that have effected the game majorly. Not 3. Female rappers are a big thing now and basically more than they have ever been and that's no small part owed to Nicki. We have never seen as many female mainstream rappers before in the history of hip hop. I honestly think her impact on the game is bigger than Cole's and Cole is my favorite of them all.

Shiitt I was pulling HARD for Danny Swain and Quest to blow up in that era. Charles Hamilton too but Charles had legit mental issues that fukked up his momentum.

At least Wale, Cudi, and Sean had their moments in the sun and made actual verifiable impacts on the game. Wale and Cudi especially had really nice runs. Some extremely talented artists never even got their full shot.

Nicki’s peak first week was 375k with her first album. Cole has beaten that twice and in the process has become one of only 4 rappers to have their first four albums reach number 1 (Nicki is not part of that list) Nicki’s overall best selling album is her debut at 3X Platinum. Cole’s best selling album is his third at 5x platinum. Cole is also the FIRST artist to simultaneously debut three songs within the Top 10 (a feat Nicki has not achieved to date) Cole has 1 3X certified album, two 2x Certified album, 1 5x certified album and two platinum. Nicki has 1 3x certified album. Two 2x certified and two certified platinum albums. Come has Nicki beat in every metric except singles

In real time he was hotter than cole coming up but make no mistake, everyone knew cole was the better rapper (looking for trouble comes to mind). He was never on dot or drake's level to me.

If he hadn't disappeared he'd still be big, but a clear level below them

Man that was the best time. So glad I was able to live thru the mixtape era before it ended.

A lot of them just had bad timing. I know a lot of those guys would do well now.

he's talented but never close to that level, i'm sorry :manny:

drake, kendrick and cole put in the work, made albums that created conversations and kept building their fanbases over the years. sean made good music but nothing crazy (and a lot of it has aged like bubblegum), and honestly none of the big 3 would have made the mistake of allowing a feature part like kendrick's control verse to be part of their albums lol

I’m not disagreeing. That’s also due to her awful personality. People don’t like rooting for her. She should’ve been doing for women what Drake was doing with all the men.

Cap. Impact in what? Sneakers? Son ain't musically impactful like that. Not in hip hop circles anyway. Either way they have been more impactful for a longer amount of time. These nikkas been around since 09 respectively. Travis ain't get hot until way later.
Travis is bigger than both of them right now. Just because he doesn’t appeal to you does not mean he isn’t.

Travis is basically the MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice of his generation. He’s wildly popular but NOBODY is putting Travis in their top 3-5 with expectations of being taken seriously. Even before the concert fiasco he wasn’t seriously seen as an artist to be taken at anything other than face value. And now that its been proven he doesn’t write or produce his own material he’s squarely in the pop star lane
