People need to evolve. I used to listen to nothing but hip hop and distinctly remember saying Rock and all that stuff was white boy music. As a impressionable kid, I started to emulate the patterns in some of the music, trying to be like that. Between middle school and high school I found interest in techno and eventually trance - genres with little to vocals. I left behind the toxic mindset that started to develop when I was listening exclusively to hip hop and rap. Then I found myself branching out even more, eventually getting into some rock and metal. By then I wasn't like most kids trying to fit into some image, but just enjoying the music. I learned to separate myself.

The problem is even though people want to be an individual, they still follow the crowd seeing acceptance into whatever is currently hot. If it's little kids or adolescents who haven't learned it's ok to not fit in, they're gonna internalize that music and turn into what that music portrays. People gotta start branching out :yeshrug:
His is all the ramblings of that nerd that tried hard to fit in at school and now is trying to get everybody to be different with him :heh:

Why does it have to be profound? It's just positive music and most artists in that lane aren't saying anything deep.

Why is it that any rap with a message is now considered psuedo fake deep shyt. Y'all love labeling shyt as fake smh

Cosign.

I don't know what these nikkas expect at this point. "It ain't deep enough", " It ain't profound enough" :gucci:

I think this is a different topic.

I agree with you, however, dudes keep pretending content will outperform the quality of the music.

This is entertainment, first and foremost.
but entertainment has a start and ending
You being a democrat party apologist, if a musician/actor promotes repub talking points in and out of the booth/stage, then how is it still entertainment?

He told no lies.

Salute to the young king. He has three straight good/great albums and is killing it right now.
Nah if what he said is like the thread title he told a lie but wack nikkas think he did. Sad coming from a nikka like you that went to school. You think if you listened to "trap" music you wouldn't have done shyt in life? If you do that says more about you than the music and same goes for all these coli clowns that agree. If not listen to this music improves things sooo much all you cats that don't listen to that type of music should be far ahead of most people and I guarantee that isn't close to the case. Y'all mostly live around people that listen to the same music but ain't no better off than them. How sad is that?

When it suits them media is influential and when it doesn't it isn't

Keep lying to yaself...

This ignant music has made being ignant acceptable through it's influence in popular culture.

That is clear as day. Anyone in denial of this knows the truth they just won't accept it. Let's keep pretending were gonna move ahead while trap music is the current soundtrack to life.
You goofy cats always say this stupid shyt that's bolder but are the people y'all speaking about the same fukking people? If they aren't what the fukk are y'all talking about?

I am fascinated by how so many of our people will acknowledge that mainstream media has played a major part in our social conditioning but perceive rap as an exception. It makes no sense. Listening to ANYTHING reptitively will have an effect on your sub conscious and trap rap is no exception. Its unfortunatr that this music has extremely self destructive messages.
Countering the effect this music (which is social conditioning whether you acknowledge it or not) has on the minds of our children will be one of our peoples greatest challenges.

We know tv representation matters.

We know people can read between the lines, and then develop a narrative based upon the intersect of what they've seen, vs what they feel.
Thats really a thing.

Yes, the more confident/self- assured is immune to this mostly, but most people aren't so rock solid, period.
So many in this topic going to bat on behalf of straight hot summer day garbage.
I swear i was driving somewhere and i hear some mush-mouthed trash, and then a rapper comes on and says this, i swear.

"Kno some young nikkas from the bottom, they'll do anything for a dollaaarrrr, i could've went to school to be a dooooctoooor, but i dropped out n chose to be a baaalllllerrr,

Dude legit sounded like he walk with a forward lean and a high step.

Nikkas heard that from the booth n were like "yeah, this is it"?

Ish is trash all around

This.
Media programming us to:
-Hate ourselves
-Love their wealth
-consume
-not trust your fellow man
etc. Brothas can write dissertations on how we are assaulted from every angle...but put even the slightest criticism on rap and we got a million and one deflections about why
it is the ONE artform that couldn't possibly have a negative influence. Fools are being dishonest simply because it is their chosen artform. Just cause you love it don't mean it is
all good.

You cool but you sounding just like these stupid nikkas. How has not listening to trap improved your life? Maybe if cats that were on yalls vibe was as a whole doing financially better or something that cats could see y'all might have a point but y'all cats live right with those who listen to the "bad" music so what are y'all doing. Also I really wish cats would stop with the bogus y'all switch up stuff. How bout the people like me who don't switch it up? Guess people like me don't fit yalls little easy narrative
