for all y'all sayin', how would biggie's fame and popularity would've stopped jay, well because biggie was so much of a factor at the time even when jay did drop his NOW classic reasonable doubt (which i take nothin' from that album, it's a great album), jay was not a factor then. he couldn't "bust a grape in a fruit fight" back then when he was at his peak as an mc; it took big's death and a an annie sample for jay to be a big name in the game

if biggie was still here, he would've kept those hit records and classic albums comin'
life after death and his verse on victory shows us he had no signs of fallin' off no time soon

so miss me with all this jay z bullshyt y'all talkin'

see if some of y'all were fans instead of stans, y'all could come correct but instead and to quote nas, "y'all deal with emotions just like bytches" :sas1:

Wasnt Nas bigger than Jay too?didnt stop Jay and quite a few other NY nikkas from leapfrogging the shyt outta GodSon now did it:sas1:

Jay and Biggie wouldve had to fight itnout for that spot most likely, lets just say there was alot more ammo for Jay to use against Biggie....not to mention it looked as if Biggie was going pop and wouldve been in shiny suits if Puff had anything to say about it....Jay wouldve had the inside track as the underdog who was official in these streets.

maybe not lil cease status but you get the point :mjlol:
look, i like reasonable doubt, bp, tba and ag. rd is of my favorites hip hop albums that has gotten better w/ time
but let's not act like jay z won't a poor man's version of biggie (and for the record, i like jay z)
biggie was jay's blueprint. everythin' biggie did, jay has followed suit and did when it comes to the music
anytime a man quotes another man every since album since 2nd album (vol. 1) it speaks volume

when big was here, there was no room for jay to spread his wings
big had the game on lock, especially as far as the east coast went with solo artist (competition bein' nas)
no jay z album comes close to ready to die
no jay z album comes close to life after death
even on jay's best day with rd, bp and tba, he pales in comarison to biggie's monumental albums
i know a bunch of stans will come in here and say this or that but i'm sorry, facts is facts
i say this as a jay z FAN but jay z was able take over the game due to both big and pac's passin'
jay z is a poor man's or diet coke version of biggie
jay z can fool the generation of fans who know of him from blueprint and on but not us old heads
biggie was the true king of new york; frank white :mjcry:

where my fellow old heads at who know what's up at? :obama:

I dont know about this... I disagree really breh

I know Jay liked Big. But to say Jay wouldnt be what he is today is just unknown.

to quote the bible "It was written" This is how Jay life was suppose to turn out

As a fellow old head, IMO Big's career might not have popped for too much longer TBH

The backlash was starting right before he passed

The Roots and Boot Camp Clique both dissed him in their vids

Rock kicked the nikka off the stage in the vid, the ultimate disrespect in hip hop

Him dying kinda legitimized the more pop sound he was making right before he passed

Agreed

One thing is for certain... you either have it or you don't. Jay is one of the lucky ones that does, so nothing was gonna stop dude from prospering once his foot was in the door.

i hear you, but the way biggie and pac dominated i don't think jay would've had much clout outside of their shyt
he'd on a couple tiers below them
both big and pac showed no signs of fallin' off
it's hard to believe but they were only gettin' better then they already were

the difference is nas didn't have the exact same lane as jay
nas tried to play the field like jay has but never could never really play the field with songs for the radio and clubs outside of shyt like oochie wally
jay could always supply the clubs and streets but in a very light weight version of what biggie did perfectly
that's what makes big so special. big could do it all so perfectly without ever losin' his step
nas is great when he not tryin' to chase a hit and just does him. jay is good at makin' mind numbin' club shyt but biggie could do what both they could and more

Thier is some TRUTH to what @stomachlines is saying

The whole hit making formula that BIG got from pac is what JAY Z followed

Prior to his link with BIG ...jay z hook game was weak

Lyrics were hard..but his song structure was subpar
as if his biggest hits werent sang by ppl like Alicia Keys , Pharrell, Oschino and Rihanna
you nikkas :dead:

what are these hooks that were so influenced by biggie and pac

thank you, bruh
like i said, i got love for jigga and i fukks with some of his music but he has ALWAYS been a light weight/poor man's biggie to me
biggie was just 1 of a kind. i mean, i don't see how anyone can not listen to his music and see that. it's all there in the music
he capture lighting in bottle with ready to die and life after death and all of his guest appearances
he got all the attributes of the perfect mc; distinct voice, great lyricist and writer, great/clever rhymes and quotables, classic songs and albums etc etc
he set the bar and i honestly ain't seen a nikka since him come close to touchin' it as an mc

Perfectly put bro. This is exactly what I try to explain to the younger bruh's but it's like they can't grasp it. DJ Whoo Kid interviewed D-Roc & said the exact same thing about living through this era & the younger bruh's not getting it.
