I'm talking about like CNN, MSNBC, NBC,etc. I can't see them stopping to have a DISCUSSION say in the middle of a political debate...like other singing legends about asking the people on the panel "What will you remember best about Slim Shady"? :mjlol:

in another 20 years that might be the case. why do you think there was such a big deal when Prince died or MJ? because the people running these shows, writing the scripts, and most important of all actually being on screen doing the reporting etc grew up in the Prince & MJ era. Phife dying recently showed a few people prob in their late 30s or early 40s doing the same thing, showing their respects on live tv.

Em was the catalyst for a whole generation of kids (10-13 yr olds) back in 2000 starting to listen to Hip Hop. you don't think that if he dies in another 20 years when that generation is grown and in positions of power & prominence that Em wont get any love on tv?

Nah, he's a rapper. Rappers don't really make "timeless" music. They make "Sign of the Times" music.

Other genres, you can practically say people grew up with those artists. Rappers will go out of style if they aren't careful.

people like Prince/MJ, you can throw on an album and have folks with a 40+ age difference of multiple races and nationalities jamming to the shyt.

Try that with MMLP

Prolly just in the hip hop circle, honestly artist's deaths don't get bigger than Michael Jackson and Prince because of the global fame that they've had for many many years. No rapper is gonna get that type of love cause typically rap music is not that accessible across the board. Like if Jay or Nas died the hip hop community would be reeling, but it won't have the same global impact as MJ or Prince.

Eminem is way bigger than Prince. Check the sales, and that's with Em coming out in the mp3 era & Prince having way more albums. Stop re-writing history and trying to make Prince MJ's equivalent.

I could careless if Eminem dies. I don't feel he is anyone significant in hiphop.

Whites try to force him on this pedestal, but I refuse to accept it. :francis:
Pretty much.

Guy never had a cultural connection with his music. Wasn't a mainstay in any black people's speakers or headphones.... It's a joke how much they push his importance on us.

Thanks for speaking sense and saying what no other said. We also truly have not seen a HUGE rapper death in this social media era to have an idea yet. Like how Twitter has been big since 2009. It is inevitable though.

Young people front sometimes about Mike, Whitney, Prince, etc but they dont become that big having just fans 40 and older.

In fact i can see them having pannels discussing mainly his MMLP album. In this time of "street harassment " and "homophobia" i see there being even more criticism after he dies. They will bring up his issues with his mom too.

One person will then bring up how he was disrespectful to MJ. Its gonna be hilarious :mjlol:

Man shut up :dead:

Is it Quicksilver ....or OldGold? :sas2:

Prince released 7 albums in the 80s and was still critically acclaimed by the end of the decade and respected.

Eminem was falling from grace by his 4th album. Sales are important but it isnt the be all end all. If your releasing bullshyt why should that be seen as an advantage?

Look at someone like Nas...look how over the years he has gotten respect from having scholarships named after him, getting interviews in respected universities, getting medals, etc.

Back in the day Eminem was bigger than him but thats why i said he is QuickSilver. Even Eminem's own people have been bored with him. I dont think alot of you realize just how bad his music ages.

I disagree based on the fact that 2pac on a global level is basically the Bob Marley of HipHop and it's easy to argue that he's in that MJ tier, and above the Prince tier.

No, Eminem is only big in white cirlces...prince had multiracial crossover appeal/love. It's the same reason why 2pac is bigger than Eminem or why MJ is bigger than Elvis or the Beatles.
