Exactly what I'm talking about.

how high can you possibly rate a guy whose best album is barely 4 mics at best? and he doesn't have a lot of urban hits to make up for it.

the only reason I even rank him that high is because of his sales & impact. basically I rank him that high because hes white......which proves my point that black people don't underrate him.

Depends what generation you ask. To 90s kids Em is more impactful.

'90s kids are too old to not know better.

MAYBE you can say that about 2000s kids. but not 90s kids. no way.

If Eminem dies, it will be one of the biggest news stories for days on end. The hip hop community is going to stop for him because of his status and he is going to be given a lot of respect from people all over the world. Contrary to what 95% of this site thinks, Eminem has become a household name in hip hop. When you think of the genre, you think of him alongside Nas, Jay, Pac, and whatnot. Consider the fact that he has crossover appeal and is looked at as an icon by many. I don't get why anyone here is saying that his death will be one of those "here today, gone tomorrow" deals.

the bolded is crazy talk.

in hip-hop, Eminem is gonna go down in the same boat as people like drake & Kanye. crossover superstars that are just relevant enough with the core audience.

Which still makes him a household name. :what:

You don't think when he croaks, people aren't going to be playing "Lose Yourself," "Stan," "The Real Slim Shady," "Mockingbird," "Sing for the Moment," "Not Afraid," and "Rap God" everywhere you go? The dude has a lot of cache in this genre, regardless of what you guys think about the quality of his music.

It's the same thing with Lil Wayne. He is just as polarizing in hip hop as Eminem is, but when he dies, EVERYONE will pay their respects because he is a household name and has been relevant in the world of rap music for almost two decades. Look at the bigger picture, man. This isn't about how YOU feel about Eminem, this is how the WORLD feels about him.

To even suggest that he is even on MJ/Prince status is ridiculous. The ONLY rapper to achieve this status was 2Pac. He died at 25 and the industry was devastated, had he lived till his 30s-50s he would have received that type of mourning. He was close at 25, but in 1996 there were still a lot of people who viewed hip-hop negatively and the matter in which he was killed also soured that.

The only one I can think of at this point is possibly Jay-Z. Kanye West has a shot as well, but his personality causes quite a bit of a divide between people.

Hip-Hop has VERY few stars who crossover well and also deliver a positive message. DRAKE is incredibly popular right now, but I can't see him ever reaching that universal status either.

I could careless if Eminem dies. I don't feel he is anyone significant in hiphop.
I'm not a fan of his albums by any stretch but how...

HOW do we get to this conclusion?

---

If he dies of an overdose, he'll get the Amy Winehouse treatment:

OH LAWD, HE DIED BEFORE HE COULD REACH HIS FULLEST POTENTIAL

Any regular health reason and all the people he shytted on will come out and bash him for those jokes he did in the past. He'll get radio spins for a good 4 months then it's on to the next.

You'll probably see more Hailey than he ever intended on having her exposed. She's attractive and would be the heir to all his money. Reality TV is her destiny.

Brey what are u talking about. Its nowhere similar to amy winehouse. He has been in the game almost 20 years.

Nobody would say anything about him not reaching his potential.

:comeon:

I'm not a huge eminem fan; but eminem show; he was snapping all over that album. I even liked " without me"

I liked " space bound" off of recovery and " die alone" off the shady records compilation
