Everything that comes after that focuses (to use your word from earlier) on the Earth - because that's what has to do specifically with us as humans. If the rest of that was relevant to our human existence - I'm sure it would've been mentioned.

Honestly it depends on the religion. IMO the Abrahamic ones would fall apart since they're so earth and human centric. A lot of the Dharmic religions already proclaim the existence of life on other planets so it wouldn't bug them

You can't just read "heavens" then throw everything you accept in outer space into that one sentence.

In the grand scheme of things; depending on which types make "first contact," it could help our species grow by leaps and bounds or permanently isolate our planet from the rest of the universe.

Like Mormons and their tax exemption status *cough*and Christians and slavery*cough*, many religions would find a verse vague enough to justify whatever point they're trying to make; hand waving many, many years of the church refuting any evidence to the contrary.
