Keep in mind, the number of pushups you do has alot to do with your bodyweight as well.

I did 72 full pushups in under a minute as a 17 year old. Highest in my entire school. That would be literally impossible for me now.

Does that mean im weaker now or in worse shape? No. It means i weigh 100lbs more and pack way more upperbody muscle.

My point is, dont extrapolate unrelated conclusions from the number of pushups someone can do. Its not the best metric for... anything really.... without context.

It would be alot easier, but its still hyperbolic.

Someone who cannot even do 10 pushups either has a severe tricept strength deficiency, severe muscle fatigue, or just an overall lack of musclr mass.

Even the most generous muscle conditioning articles state that you need at least 2 weeks of consistent training to build muscle endurance.

Eithet way,.im not against positive reinforcement to get brehs in shape, just dont lie lol

I can only do pushups these days with perfect push ups....:flabbynsick:

My wrist are too fukked up to do reggie push ups from years and years of dumbbells and barbells with with no wrist wraps. The pressure hurts like a muthafukka.

But with a perfect push up to take the pressure off, I can probably rattle off 50. If a female is watching, I get that extra boost and hit 60+

100 pushups in one set is :whew: I'm surprised by how much pushups drain me compared to benching. I don't work out as much as I used to because my body is sculpted the way I like it, with enough muscle to not be overbearing while remaining impressive in any fit. I lift once a week, but I always make sure to do 60 pushups when I wake up. I don't like bulk. I much prefer toned muscle, so I'm cool with limiting my workout while still making sure to stay muscularly lean. :francis:
i tried this program called 100 pushups iphone app a few years back and after it was over i was actually able to do 100 pushups. its not really hard you just have to follow the program and you will get there point blank. i'm not frail either i'm about average 180LB lean muscle.

what you said about not working out as much because you have enough muscle makes no sense but i digress

Word. I’ve made a lot of strides. I can do 100 push-ups but broken down in 3 sets . And I just recently been able to do 10 pull-ups in a row. I don’t think I’m in shape yet. I’m just stronger I think.

Overall volume matters more.

E.g.

3 sets 12 reps and 12 sets 3 reps have the same amount of volume.

Lower rep ranges though tend to affect CNS more ...

Higher rep ranges are more endurance and structural changes.

I might be wrong though :hubie:
3 sets and 12 reps has you meeting greater resistance, so itll add muscle faster, but 12 sets and 3 reps will still see you reach the same place eventually. It’ll take longer, though. :francis:
