So proud, too. Got dudes running in here just to use the word. The Coli is a weird place. On one hand, you guys preach black unity, being self sufficient, having goals. On the other hand, people want to tear their own people down. I just hope people dappin/ making these comments are not black.

You can easily ignore me or this thread but you RUN in here just to put me down. It says more about you than me. If you’re black, you’re still my brother. There have been plenty of people (including myself) who have been lost.

FOH nikka! :stopitslime:

It’s powerful because of black people. We have to stop using it. Rappers, athletes, regular people on the street. I remember growing up we would have slogans like, peace in the Middle East and shyt like that. We need to stop this hateful word. We can stop using it. I didn’t grow up using it but I used it in college and a few years after. It’s easy to stop, just look at it from your ancestors perspective. I never used it around my grandmother. Just think of how your granny would feel if she heard you talking like that :hhh:

Peace in the middle east? In from that Era too and I gotta say that was just some silly shyt people started saying cuz it rhymed and it tied with the war at the time :mjlol:.

I feel your point about nikka tho but habits are hard to break :yeshrug:

I only use it online to be honest. And that’s moreso because I’m around a lot of so called white people and a lot of so called blacks as well and don’t want any ignorant fighting going on for a word. People still foolishly fight over words.

What's wrong with just saying brotha/bruh :mjpls: that's what my friends and I use whenever we conversate...to me the n-word became wack after highschool, for me personally I feel like if you're a grown man (25+) saying & using that word still it looks really silly to me.

I said highschool because that's when dudes really catch onto saying/using it because it was considered cool to use certain slang which in turn made you popular or at least fit in with the popular.

That's just my opinion.

I have a tempestuous relationship with the n word. I get pulled in both directions as to what is right; use it or step away. On one hand, I believe in the transformative power of words. To me, it is a representation of our people’s ability to take the worst blows and turn it into the best triumphs. It is a word that African Americans have always used. We have claimed it and given it a myriad of meanings.

On the other hand it is a weapon; the last word uttered from hateful lips before killing our ancestors. Today those who have no understanding of the implications of it use it like the word is nothing.

Like I said earlier, I’m still trying to figure it out. I haven’t yet heard or read the argument that convinced me that Black people should stop using the n word. I can also admit that I don’t want to let it go! I grew up using and hearing it. It’s apart of my vernacular and can mean so many different things depending on how and when it is said. That being said I’m willing to change my mind. But calling me lost and that’s it won’t change nothing

Niqqer is a mispronunciation of Negro. The Spanish word for Black

This was a brand name of a very popular type of slave. The sub Saharan African. Popular because we could not easily escape... because we looked so different from the slave owners. Very easy to spot in a crowd.

In 2019 they - and we - still refer to ourselves by this brand name.

I think its gonna stick, maybe forever

That's just what the world calls us. I don't fight it

Lets all become rich and then the word "Niqqer" will mean something totally different
