120 in the bay is like 60k anywhere not called NYC lol
I guess, but not really. When you look at total comp being anywhere from $150-185k for you first 1-2 years out of school, and the fact that these are youngsters who have damn near everything provided to them at work and don’t mind 1-4 roommates from ages 21-28...that’s doing quite well. Y’all gotta get the cost of living in SF proper out your heads, and even living in SF - they’re the ones who can afford it. And they’re not supporting families on this, just themselves.

Java all day....spring is cool, but learn core java...frameworks are just a crutch

Ideally I want to get a remote position so I could be somewhere in South America while earning a US-level income. Remote java jobs are scarce compared to python/php. Java is typically used by larger companies so they would rather have you physically on site also.

Eh having 3 other roomates isnt doing well lol. Also their debt situations could be terrible and in many cases there is a reason these companies provide food and such on their campus (because you probably will be there more than 40 hours lol).

If you have to live 1-2 hours away from work you arent doing well imo

NYC is a different beast then 99% of other US cities. Living outside of Manhattan could be because the person wants to live in a residential setting. Cali cities are nothing like that

Yea or maybe people just don’t want to pay 3,000 for roses just because they have it to spend. Could’ve swore I read an article some time back about Facebook execs crying about Bay Area costs hoping Zuckerburg could land some sort of tax breaks

1st wave gentrification was people willing to spend more than the locals
2nd wave is foreign investors crushing the buildings

It’s more black & white than you give it credit for

Some of you developers who arent even architects need to show receipts on your 150k salaries. Overtime and bonuses dont count towards salary.

A breh tried to ask me to demo some shyt on an interview once, told him im not doing shyt unless I got the job :camby: either ask about my experience or stfu im not here to play games

I will say the one thing I'll never under any circumstance do is a coding assignment. I swear on my dead granny I once spent like a week working on a coding assignment, turned it in, brought in the next day, the interview was pretty much this cac telling me how mind blowing my code was and asking all kinds of questions about my thought process taking notes and all this other bs...only to not get the job because they had already decided they were hiring an internal position and my thoughts are that they were using peoples code as a training tool for their internal hire. Never doing a coding project for free like that again, idgaf.
