I gotta agree with @philmonroe my brotha :patrice:....

if the bold font is true, it's on you to get that conversion rate up...your customers don't have to get better at buying, you have to get better at selling...just cuz someone says they want something doesn't mean they will immediately spend money...u have to get them to that point

your product is quality and it's fly...but that means nothing if you not making people fork over that cash..

if the bold font is not true and people don't want your product as much as you think - well you shyt outta luck...your sales may be what your market really is b

but I'm sure you tested the market before you created your game.....u gotta connect with them....it's all sales now :salute:
Thank you. This is all I tried to tell dude and he act like I'm crazy or hating on him. I'm just being real and hate to see cats complain on things they need to improve on. You tell cats they can improve and they get heated like I said fukk their mamma or something. That's why I don't like these convos at times online. Cats get too sensitive when you just trying to be real.

I didn't get that from his message.

It sounds like he's trying to cater to a niche that is mostly forgotten about in published media, but the problem this specific niche is also notorious for not spending any money on quality (key word) entertainment that they appreciate, hence why they are treated like second rate consumers a lot of times.

He's doing a service that sounds like he knew would have a hard time selling. But if you put that work in, that's how ANYONE would you feel.

That's the only thing I disagree with philmonroe about. He got that classic consumer mindset of not appreciating the work it took to even get where he's at.

Some people only see it after you've made it, but until then "you obviously aren't doing something right". No bytch, it takes time to establish a crucial fanbase, and you're gonna get frustrated a long the way.

Comparing him to Tariq, really? Come on breh, don't cosign that hatin shyt.

One thing thats very important that I always tell anyone that enquires about starting a business...

if you are not ready to go into debt, then you are not ready to start your business......

whether its a startup business loan, money borrowed from friends or family, investors, running the business on credit cards or an overdraft chances are you are going to incur some kind of debt, and if you aint ready for that then you aint ready

Good advice - I'm allergic to debt so that's probably why I've never ventured into entrepreneurship. You have to be comfortable with a little bit of risk and instability to thrive - this doesn't fit a lot of people's personality profile.

Selling to a niche that doesn't spend money isn't selling. That's asking for donations lol.

If you know people won't pay for your product, you shouldn't complain when they don't buy it -then call them out like you didn't know.

That's not right either.

I hope @Blacksands didn't do what you are saying. You should definitely sell to who is buying first then branch out to more riskier markets. Business is not charity work.

First I didn't compare him to Tariq. Why is it about online that get you cats reading stuff stupidly? I just gave that as an example of someone who made stuff that catered to the same demographic and was successful with it. No more no less. Don't see how y'all cats read that I'm comparing them two when I'm just naming an example of someone who is successful in a similar lane. Its like people look for reasons to shyt on and not listen to something.

I don't have a classic anything. I'm just real about what people control. If people aren't buying your stuff its a you problem period. If my stuff don't sell I need to go back and improve on it. I'm not whining about blacks don't support me Wah Wah. That's weak to me and doesn't have jack to do with consumer mindset. I just hold myself accountable for things I control which is the vast majority of my decisions. Its easy to blame others and take the heat off yourself and that's not how I roll. Also please never mention me and hating in the same sentence. I never hate on people at all. I just don't like that shyt dude was kicking about blacks and then how other races do this, that, and the other. Don't care who says that silly stuff I'm going to speak on it.

People have their own reasons for doing business they do. I don't judge. It shouldn't be just about money, then nobody would ever get thought about except the rich and fabulous. Do you see the problem there?

A lot of time a niche exists that hasn't quite been discovered yet. BUT even though it takes more work to get that money, if and when you do get it, you'll be at the top of the list.

@Blacksands honestly reminds me of what Tyler Perry did. For years he would have 6-10 people show up to his plays, but it's not that people didn't like them, it's because discovering a niche like that is fukking brutal work that doesn't pay off at the time when you think it should.

But now he's worth half a billion and the same people giving him that work when he was broke doing shows every week for the same 5 people, are worth chump change to him now. That's why I say give the man a break.

I don't know if you guys have tried to create anything like that, but I'm doing so right now and nowhere near where he is, and it's fukking level 10 difficulty. People who only buy, they never see the work that goes into it. they only see the Tariq Nasheed's of the world and compare everybody to that. Bet everybody was giving Tariq that talk before he made it too. A lot of people just crabs.

It's not though. A lot of shyt just takes time.

If everyone had your philosophy we would all be quitting day 1. And it looks extra stupid saying that if you haven't been in that lane.

Once he started going in on me comparing me to Tariq, i started smiley facing him because i knew he was the kind of guy that would get infuriated when someone didn't try to beat his illogical advice with logic that he could care less about. No where in my OP did I state that i am giving up or black consumers won't buy. I said they are not buying at the rate they are demanding.

Meaning 500 comments in IG for a specific design and 20 to 30 actual purchasers.

I have always been a big believer of "buy black" to be a silly notion. Sell quality and they will buy. They are buying, but not enough for me to move to the next level. I might have to cater to other demographics to open my market. That is business.

I will not let me life's work die in the shadows because my main customer base doesn't want to put their money where their mouth is.

1 year ago I had shyt quality art. I launched a kickstarter hoping people would take my story seriously but they couldnt get past the art. I didn't blame them saying they were shallow. I blamed myself for having art that didn't make them want to learn more. I then remade everything from the ground up instead of try to say "support black businesses."

But as all men with kids and a wife to take care of, I don't have an infinite amount of time to get established. Thus, I must move with a sense of urgency.

Thanks for backing me up.

You're saying a lot of feel good stuff. If you wanna reach as many people as possible, it damn sure is about the money. Black Sands cares about the sales AKA money.

Tyler Perry's audience is not the same as Black Sand's. Wouldn't say it was a new niche either.

Tariq was smart. He first got in the game selling to a tried and true proven market (dating/relationships) then he branched out to what he is doing now.

But that was AFTER he got his money and following so his Hidden Colors series wouldn't be a huge risk.

Success does take time. You been avoiding what Black Sands said about black people tho. :sas2:

If you expect a level of success, then it's your problem. If people telling you they want what u got, and then flake later, that's not your problem. That's just how it go.

My point was just because people flaking doesn't mean he doing something wrong. Sorry if my babbling made that not clear.
