Immobilarity being trash is one of the biggest myths in hip hop history

What would you rate Immobilarity?

The whole Wu Tang series made me go back and listen to all of Wu Tang’s best albums but I always heard how wack Immobilarity is, especially following up a classic like Only Built For Cuban Linx (still one of the absolute greatest albums of all time:wow:).

Raekwon’s (and Ghost’s) discography really stood out for me and they have shot up my top 10 list. I was barely born when OBFCL came out so I can’t appreciate the impact of the time but maybe that’s why I can listen to Immobilarity and still enjoy it.

I know it deviates from the gritty and unpolished Wu Tang sound but how can an album with joints like Live From New York, Sneakers, Casablanca, the Table, Yae Yo & 100 rounds be consensously seen as trash?

What y’all think?

the tri-state
the reason its panned negatively is because it followed cuban. its merit was downplayed, its a 3.5 even 4 mic album.

the album originally had more pete rock input and much like EVERY allbum recorded in 98 was scrapped and re-recorded and many of the songs didnt make the retail

songs like friday, power, raw, and forecast had lackluster production and wer lowpoints and replaced much better records

also big bub replacing ghost on all that i got 2 triggered fans lol

the problem was rae had good production but the 3 teams he used (pop, tryfylin, infinite arkatechs) were inconsistent

this album reminds me of nas i am, same era and same treatment and sonically reminds me of that album as well

rae had no ghost and no rza to prove he didnt need them and he was correct and i enjoy this album

it couldve been 5 mics wit these on there;

No, this album wasnt what the game needed from Rae. I was 13 when this came out and I remember being so confused. My understanding of hip hop wasnt as thorough but I knew something was off. This was the year Murda Muzik, Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now, Da Rockwilder etc were in my playlists. This album just didnt cut it.

This thread didnt work for Nastradamus, Doggfather and it also ain't gon work for this one. Leave it be.

We all lost.

A lot of these tracks were too polished and light in the ass.
'Power' might be one of the blandest beats ever.

I haven’t revisited this in years. But I do remember buying this CD and being disappointed. Can’t even remember the specifics. Only thing I remember is I’m and addict for sneakers and expecting to like the album more
